Games. Nothing gives a better sense of excitement and thrill than gaming. On the entertainment scale of things, games win hands down.

Interactive.  After that, it's movies, followed by games, followed by books.

I'm only making books last (they would have been first 10 years ago), because the quality in books has sucked so bad recently (compared to the other entertainment mediums).

I chose Music... :-[

I would have to order it Music > Games > Movies > TV

If we're talking pure entertainment that can be garnered from something, the interaction with games beats out Movies easily.

I don't think anyone is saying games is a superior medium, but if we're talking about shits and giggles fun, games wins hands down for me.  The interaction with friends, different things you can do just makes it for me.  Now if you asked which I took more seriously as an art form, appreciated more etc., I would say films.  But you cant yell "pwned!" in a headset at some hillbilly douche bag during Garden State, can you?

How can you say games are a superior medium to film?

This is nothing about being superior. I get a high playing games more than do anything else on this list. Music is meh, I get bored with it after about a month usually. Books are great, but right now, the quality of literature ain't so hot. Movie are excellent, but currently at the point in time, I'd rather play a great game like Grim Fandango than watch a movie. Not only do I get a mixture of all of 3 of these other choices, I also get interactivity as an added bonus.

1. Games
2. Books
3. Movies
4. TV
5. Music

That's not to say that games are a better art form than the others, but who's to say what art form is better? I prefer games, though. The games I play give me more satisification than watching a movie, and it's rare that I watch a movie that inspires me. You guys judge games based on these old types of media (tv, film, music) rather than on it's own merits.

See, I just can't agree with those fucktards.

Now if you asked which one could entertain me for longer and keep me more involved and which one I thought was generally more fun, I'd say the earlier Final Fantasy games.

But as in just better, quality, apples to apples, The Godfather is like Jesus on a plate!

Exactly. I'm not saying bullshit like Final Fantasy is better than Godfather, because it isn't. But the interactivity level and fun makes it a more pleasant experience to me. But sure, if we're talking about as an art form, I'd prefer movies and books, but this poll isn't about that. It clearly says entertainment in the title.

But TVC, I admitted movies were a superior medium and art form, but if we're comparing how much fun I have with a great movie versus a great game, the game is going to win because it's significantly longer, interactive etc.

But if I was going to say which one I appreciated more, it would be the movie.

Depends on the movie and game. To me "entertainment" means more than "woohoo this is fun!" It can mean something that's intriguing, captivating, etc. For me something like Brazil would be more captivating than most games, while watching the old Star Wars would be more entertaining in terms of "OMG fun"

Raiders of the Lost Ark and Star Wars are more fun than any game, and I love games.

You prove you don't know anything about games aside from Nintenjew games. "OMG fun" is only one aspect of gaming aesthetics, so I'm sorry about that PD.

There are some games that are more than omg fun, PD. Ever play a horror game? There's an element of atmosphere that is something movies just can't do. It's about the thrill of the scare, the atmosphere. I'd rather play a horror game than watch a typical Hollywood horror film, unless it's psycho horror flicks like Jacob's Ladder. Ever play a point and click adventure game? Often times they have dialog and characters that rival that best of Disney. I'd rather play Grim Fandango than watch fucking Eragorn or whatever shit movie it is you take to see your little brother.

There's so much more to games than omg fun, and it's a shame you haven't even bothered to get a better look at gaming's variety. But then again, you did only have a gamecube last gen.

There are, I never disputed that. But on the flip side, you instead appreciating games for their own merits, you compare them to film, which really isn't fair. And even still, there are some games which are more fun than some films. The key word here is some.

I bet you think Chicken Little is a better experience than playing Monkey Island.

I have never encontered a horror game even halfway as scary as the scariest films

Films really aren't that scary to me. Omg something popped out of the window!! when you knew it happen anyways. With games, since I am in control of my avatar, it makes the experience more personal.

Monkey Island is very funny for a game

But could one even attempt to compare its quality of humor to that of say a Monty Python? Of course not.

Actually it makes the experience more linear and less scary since you know that all you have to do is beat the game to "win". There are some great horror movies that don't have happy, "I win" endings

Also why the hell do you keep comparing classic games to horrible movies thinking it accurate? Chicken Little and Monkey Island? Eragon and Grim Fandango?

Guess what Genji sucks compared to Seven Samurai LOL! That is basically the type of comparisons you are making.

Actually it makes the experience more linear and less scary since you know that all you have to do is beat the game to "win". There are some great horror movies that don't have happy, "I win" endings

You know, that's funny, because Silent Hill 2 didn't either.
