Jacob deGrom beat Kershaw and Greinke. Daniel Murphy hit three home runs off of them.

The Mets did what they were supposed to do- they made Walrus cry. Now, the most important thing in the universe is making sure they're eliminated as soon as humanly possible. Decent human beings don't root for the Mets.

I feel like picking on Cubs fans is basically equivalent to picking on the mentally handicapped, though. They can't help it and your behavior towards them is distasteful.

Mets fans CHOOSE to be Mets fans. Picking on them is like picking on Juggalos- it's ok because they should know better.

Cubs won 97 games. Then beat a team that won 98 games. Then beat a team that won 100 games. Then got fucking shit on over 4 games where they never led at any point.

I guess you should be glad your team doesn't have to deal with them.

Quote
We should go back to AL best record vs NL best record in a single best of 7. This shit kind of drives a stake through the legitimacy of playoffs as any sort of proper sorting mechanism in baseball. If the Mets actually win while being the 10th best playoff team, that will really be too much.

The Mets weren't the 10th best playoff team -- especially considering that they were a different team after the trade deadline. Regardless of that, the Giants already won last year as a much worse team. I'm sure you know plenty about the Giants, though.

I think it's pretty close to a toss-up. It's the Royals' relentless contact-driven lineup, baserunning, fielding, and bullpen vs the Mets' starting pitching, balanced lefty-righty lineup with some pop, and dominant two-inning closer. I think everyone keeps underestimating the Royals (including myself). I think it's a matter of whether the Mets' Big Three are out of gas. They absolutely have a shot, though.

Edit: The online sportsbooks basically have it as a toss-up. I do think the Mets are benefiting from that sweep. That's not gonna happen again.

I agree. If they can just get back to the fundamentals and play the game the right way, they can put some crooked numbers up. The pitchers need to twirl and hurl and batters need to get good wood on the ball.  Lots of frozen ropes and hitting them where they ain't.

At the end of the day, the bottom line is that it is what it is.

Relative to the rest of baseball, no team has struck out less often than this year’s Royals, beneath the average by more than two and a half standard deviations. Behind them you get the 2002 Angels, and it’s somewhat encouraging to know that team won the World Series.

Baseball atheists annihilated again. :bow2 Grit. :bow2 Determination. :bow2 The fourth true outcome. :bow2
