Avengers 2 OT
« on: April 23, 2015, 11:42:06 PM »
I just watched it. Shit is meh. Final battle is weaker than one of Drinky Crow's erections. There are some cool scenes interspersed, and it's a lot better than Iron Man 3 or whatever sets the low bar for Marvel movies.

There's some really good shit with Iron Man. He does more cool stuff in this one than in all of his solo films.

Discuss when you get around to seeing it.

Total bate thread.  It will be awesome and you will be humiliated by the judgement of other people.

Also, due to me misspelling I think I discovered a new word 'himuliated'

Ant-Man is July. (Then Captain America: Civil War next May, then Doctor Strange the following November.)

Anyways yeah, reactions on GAF are mixed and the RT/user votes have been going up and down for the last few days. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like Whedon hit it out of the park, but I'm confident I'll enjoy it more than the first which really doesn't hold up well on rewatch (still better than TDKR though. :-\)

I head the mid-credits scene is either super hype or super meh. Thoughts?

But that's probably just people giving it the highest or lowest score without seeing it.

I saw that they already announced an extended cut for blu-ray.  something about squeezing eighty characters into two and a half hours hurting it.

Quite frankly if it's not Erich von Stroheim's original cut of Greed, it's not worth watching.

Movies are getting longer/more serialized, and TV shows are getting higher budgets. Eventually, the two will be indistinguishable....

I never really expected any of the TV stuff to make its way into the movies.  the tv audience is probably insignificant compared to the movie audience.   but I'd still like to see Daredevil show up and tell everyone off in one of the future movies.  or in one of the Spider-Man movies.

Make one with the real title "Avengers: Age of Ultron" that'll show him and indicate the thread is for real discussion and intellectual analysis.

Yeah, he was probably just giving an explanation for why there's no mention of Coulson in AoU, but even that still chafes me.

Though, I was totally expecting it in Winter Soldier instead, so I guess it's the Russo Bros that dropped the ball there.

Low bar for Marvel movies is the first Thor. That snoozer took me three tries to get through, including a failed attempt during an international flight. Do you know how hard it is to not-watch something on a 12 hour flight? Pretty hard.

Way more excited for Batman v Superman than any of these cookie cutter Marvel movies.

Thor 2's surprisingly one of my favorites because it's actually pretty funny.  The other ones generally have pretty low-hanging fruit comedy, but Thor 2 was like a more mainstream Wes Anderson film at a times.  The part where Thor comes into the sister's apartment and hangs his hammer up on the coat rack, I mean c'mon, that's hilarious.  It was just a fun comedy action romp that didn't take itself too seriously.  Was a fun popcorn film.  Iron Man 1's still my favorite Marvel movie though and Cap 2 is a good action movie.

Yep, because "character balance" is something someone would say is positive in the X-men movies.

They would say it about Days of Future Past especially. A movie where they killed off a huge chunk of the previous cast off screen, introduced characters like Toad for no reason and did nothing with them, had returning characters like Havoc and had them only spout unneeded exposition, had the future X-men do nothing but show up and die, and had to cut one of the more important characters(rogue) to the point of being a cameo appearance.

Yeah they would also sure say the first two movies where an ensemble cast and not the Wolverine show.

Yeah, Bryan Singer know's how to use big casts.
