Publishers, we need to have a discussion about your discounts on DLC especially Season Passes.

The longer you refuse to discount it in line with the games and packs, the longer I'll wait for the GOTY or whatever version to be like $5.

Because those don't show up in my games list to be ignored OR drop me trading cards.

So, your move.

It doesn't really matter, to be honest. I only played XIII for a few hours before I gave up on it, but as long as you know who the characters are and maybe a little bit about what happens at the end of XIII you should be fine.

there's also a digest of 13 you can watch in 13-2. really you only need to know the setup and the ending of 13. not a whole lot else happens in it, and the lore shit is mostly discarded in 13-2.

It doesn't matter. FF13 is a LONNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG tutorial (about 20? 40? hours) until it opens up right at the end and unlocks everything to you and by then you'll be tired of pressing forward--provided you hated that element in FF10 like me.

FF13-2 is a bit more "explore the world" while still being semi-linear. The saving grace though? You're able to *choose* where you want to go after a bit to where it kinda allows you to have some freedom in going at your own pace.

*Then why are you complaining? You wanna wait at least nearly a year before saying the sales are shit for a "new" title, bb.

Also Ghost Recon classic for less than $5. :rejoice Ubisoft finally hearing my prayers of throwing money at them. Now to get the Rainbow Six titles. :-*

I accidentally left the game running in another tab earlier and there were like five or six guys who were intensely playing the game when I went back to it, I put it on my other monitor for like an hour to keep an eye on it and they were using all the abilities and stuff almost constantly. While my auto-cannon which was like level 15 sat there plinking away a thousand damage against these trillion hp monsters. :lol

So there's some people who are hardcore playing it. I've really only been going in and spending like two or three minutes crippling spawners and upgrading to try and see what some of the higher level stuff is*. Only gotten to railgun as the click weapon.

*Plus get my cards.

There are self-playing scripts out there, so those people might be doing something else while their bots do the work.

What genuinely surprised me is that there are people streaming this shit. There's one guy claiming to be the #1 team, they where in the tens of thousands of levels. Their game looked different, too. Gold background.

4X special fellow brethren, do you guys like Age of Wonders III?
I've only spent an hour and a half in it, but it's pretty good

it's not like civ where you can carve out a few of your neighbors in the early-mid game and then cheese your way through diplomacy and cruise to a culture/science victory; the meat of the game is the combat, if you can't fuck with the hexagonal-turn based battles that's a substantial part of the game you're missing out on. the appeal of the game is the immediate expansion/conquest/resource gathering + leveling up characters and shit; it's an rpg in the skin of a 4X

Awww, figures. I'm all about the city building. That's one of the things that holds me back from a lot of scifi/fantasy 4X. Like, they don't really have a lot of vision as far as how a (fictional) civilization would develop so they double down on tile combat. Which I like ok, but it's not my favorite.
yeah there's no equivalent to the worker, settling is fairly limited and, iirc, there aren't any great building projects you can tell your cities to undertake. that being said, there's a shitload of depth to how your civ/unit interacts with the environment, and depending on class/race, there'll be ways to mold it accordingly. because of the emphasis on rpging, it allows for a lot more flexibility and mix n match with your civ, which is pretty fun to mess around with. it's definitely worth a look, and it's like what, 8 bucks right now? totally worth it. since you brought it up, I kinda wanna dive back in right now; I was overwhelmed the first time, I might pick up a dlc

e: and it should be mentioned, your units are stacked and the combat takes place on a map that represents the tile you and the enemy are both occupying in the main overworld. think Total War but instead of a fully realized rts, it's a Fire Emblemy tile and turn based system
