Idea: psychoanalytic recombination
« on: June 08, 2015, 01:52:00 AM »
There's been a lot of talk and consternation lately about immortality. Is it a good idea, bad idea, which if any of the top priorities for humanity from the recent planning offsite can it be made to fall under, etc. Seems one of the biggest concerns is it will just lead to too many old people keeping the ship of society anchored to shore with the weight of their stagnant ideas.

So, here's a new idea to square the circle: psychoanalytic recombination.

What if your soul, or psyche, could be sliced and diced into hundreds of beautiful glimmering soul crystals? What if they were inspired by Carl Jung's classic works of psychoanalytical theory (with a modern cognitive science twist)? What if they could be mixed together with others' - throwing out all the cruft of legacy DNA-based inheritance mechanisms, and embracing a modern higher-level personality regeneration substrate which maintains the continuity of partial individuality while preventing the formation of long-lived monolithic persons and their staleness risks? What if these recombination events took place approximately every three to six weeks?

As a side benefit, this would probably replace most of the current systems around sex, gender, etc., which I never much cared for at all. This is modulo some of the typical base/superstructure complexities but I'll explore those in another post.

Questions? Thoughts? Feelings?

It's going to be weird when I'm sharing mind shards with other people and I want to jack off.

The lifestream is an interesting concept but it's all just sort of green and glowy. Materia are pretty though, albeit alarmingly adapted to consumer capitalism.

My brain could use a good scrambling, though I am strangely attached to the current sub-optimal configuration.

if we move memetic design into central planning, why not move downstack to dedicate and "optimize" individual psyches to specific processing tasks so they can best contribute to the MindMesh. i will subscribe to your newsletter as we continue our cold defeat of malthus

for example, we can place the SIGNIFICANT nature of pd -- minimizing or eliminating altogether any other component that is not his rational polysexuality -- into our collective libido management nanoserver, thus accelerating the global mindmesh adoption of the potentially universal "head is head" maxim

then ailing fathers need not die due to incestuously unsucked cocks and so malthus goes into the dumpster along with his nasty traps

:ufup

ugh, the illusion of human will is disgustingly suboptimal.

I know what you meant but "incestuously unsucked" is interesting and in general "to unsuck" is a promising verb which I have added to my phone's dictionary (it had initially wanted to correct it to "u suck", no joke).

srsly, queens, "would you suck your dying dad's dick to save him" is THE era-defining malthusian trap demonstrating the need for a centrally planned culture.

sucking your dad's dick to save his life is pretty straight up utility maximization: you restore a life and a potential contributor to humanity all for briefly ingesting a non-harmful substance for a very short period. you'd think this would be an easy strategic incentive, but culture is so fundamentally miswired that just about everyone would let him die, because our essential memetic cloud is toxic with inefficiencies that enable value-less maxims. nor is the problem with the individual; it is infact with the maxims -- the cultural programming -- that causes us to reject the essential value proposition even though "shun those who suck their father's cocks" is a useless, micro-evolved response.

therefore, it is essential that we recombine the moral centers of pd and arvie post-haste, and introduce it into our memetic management framework. with this, the "head is head" renaissance can blossom and we can eliminate the fundamental trap of sexual prurience (by fully embracing utilitarian nongendered polysexuality, rather than constraining it) which so frustrated malthus himself.

THIS IS THE GENIUS OF THE BORE COLLECTIVE.

but are you incented to murder him (in the digital realm), or do you simply have an operant strategy of identifying weak targets and opportunistically but passively acquiring their capital?

your future in the hivemind depends on your answer.

If you're really going to die on this hill, head is head needs a revision (as a slogan). Sure it's catchy and succinct, but whenever I read it I always think of the poor oral sex I've received in my life and falsify it  instead of all the hot dudes I'd blow were it not for a crippling hardwired heterosexuality and my unfortunate birth into a massively homophobic society more concerned about dudes visiting each other in the hospital than they are about double tapping weddings in rural Pakistan.

dunno, didn't make it past the fight with the sporelings. i need to optimize my time and thoughts to ensure a semi-critical role after the singularity, not minmax to beat some dumb arbitrary goal created by developers WAIT WAS THAT THE TEST

There is a scene in sense8 where one of the characters talks about "kissing" the love his life for the first time. How taking his cock into his mouth was like "holy communion." Imagine if that joy, that love could be shared across the entire network?
