Bitch pls I started with the NES :tocry
I have the PS2 disc of this game but I have never thrown it in. Need to do that sometime, I've dug the other Suda shit that I've played. When are he and Swery gonna team up and make the ultimate batshit wacky jappy game?

I stated with the nes as well.

Also I suggest playing the GC version instead. PS2 version is kinda doo doo. Long load times, etc.

That's true of a lot of cult classics though. I bought ICO for 5 bucks in a clearance bin and then resold it years later for 90 dollars (unopened).

K7 is awesome.  Too bad Suda quit being a game creator/director after NMH1.  Doubt he'll ever direct a game again :\

NMH sucked but I really liked SOTD

I will never understand this.

Neither are anywhere near K7, but at least NMH has that David Lynch weirdness and totally creative unexpected shit out of nowhere with barely passable gameplay.  SoTD plays a little better, but ditches almost all the Suda-ism weirdness and plays it a lot more straight with some cringe-worthy stuff like the dick cannon shooting gallery levels.  The narrated book passages were the only great part of that game.

There's nothing Lynchian about NMH. You go on mindless, boring hack fests with bad level design with bad battle mechanics, and even worse open world. Then you mow lawns and pick up coconuts until you unlock the next level. Its boss fights were not memorable, the story was really boring, and aside from like one boss, and it's just a boring game in general. NMH2 is much better.

SOTD has the horror aspect of Suda games going for it and isn't necessarily gratuitous beyond the stupid penis jokes. The Evil Dead nod section of the game was great, and the game has fantastic boss fights and some fun ass levels. Whch is nothing I got from NMH. I also happened to enjoy its B movie story even if it wasn't the best.

NMH is one of the most disappointing games I've ever played and it wasn't just disappointing, it was flat out boring.

Killer 7 is a GOAT type of game if it clicks with you. Love this game so much.

Shadows of the Damned is pretty awesome as well, like it way more than No More Heroes. Lollipop Chainsaw is good but not that great.

Can't say I agree about NMH. One is pretty good. I love the otaku wish fulfillment story that ends in him being fucked over.  The entire thing is some skewed and twisted anime fantasy and I enjoy it because of that. The side jobs were lame, but I rather do them then the retro take offs in 2. Their mundaneness played well against the over the topness. two is the better game but it lacks the character and well poshitness of one and I find it less interesting.

The only GH game of last gen I actually dislike is Killer is Dead. What a waste of fantastic visuals, ok gameplay, and a premise.

I really, REALLY need bebpo to quantify how NMH is Lynchian, especially in the K7 vein.

The otaku stuff is exactly what didn't appeal to me in NMH.

It's weird as fuck.

Maybe not exactly Lynchian, but it plays a straight story of a guy in some strange assassin free for all scheme yet it's filled with very strange unexpected, unrealistic weird weird weird moments.   Like when you fall asleep on a bus and end up in a shmup.  Or going out to the desert and fighting a rocket ship.  It's also filled with highly disturbing dark shit and over the top extreme violence (I guess this makes it more Grindhouse than Lynch).  Again, it's no Killer 7, but it has that Takahashi Miike WTF strangeness surrounding a by the books story.  It definitely up there with Killer 7's weirdness, even if it's not as good.  NMH2 was less weird, but played better, so didn't care for it as much since I mainly come to Suda games for the weird.

SoTD had some goofy stuff, but the plot wasn't exactly weird.  It was more like Bayonetta and just silly.  Played pretty decent, but like I just said, I don't come to the Suda games for good gameplay, I come for the weird unexpected fucked up plots.

But since Suda stopped writing/directing games himself, the Grasshopper games stopped being "weird" and started being more generic typical with a goofy coating.

NMH 1/2 are okay. I didn't hate myself for playing them. I found the jank as fuck open world in 1 kinda amusing. Like they had watched a video of Driver on the PS1 and went from there to design it.

Killer 7 is pretty good. I feel like the control scheme is way off from what it should be though I have no idea what it should be. Only have the Cube version tho.

Kinda hate k7, definitely hate NMH (every variation I've played) but I absolutely adore SotD. Actually Paid 60 bones for the import soundtrack signed by Suda and don't regret it. Wanted to like Lollipop Chainsaw but its bad. Embarassingly bad. Eight minutes of game stretched and repeated over ten hours.

I actually bought a used GC in high school for K7 and RE4 and I came out hating one and being farely lukewarm about the other (at least compared to most ppls reaction). Waste of 90 dollars.

Then I don't know why you'd like 2 since it's just that without the angle of that being stupid. Travis in NMH is a loser and all that wish fullfillment anime fantasy stuff gets turned on it's head and told how it's stupid and bad. In two he gets the girl and is a winner.

I think NMH2 is the better game, but I don't really like it. The open world of one may be janky and dumb, but I feel it's jankyness only added to the entire strange atmosphere of one. One plays everything say straight while always throwing bizarre turns that it hardly acknowledges. You go from killing senti superhero to picking up scorpions without the game batting an eye. Two just seemed to play everything up and well be too polished for me to be interested.

There's nothing mechanically good about the boss battles in one, but I remember all of them. All the bosses had presence. I remember some of them in two, but not all.

Lolipop Chainsaw was fun and didn't take itself serious at all so I enjoyed it. It was charming in it's earnestness to be fun. Despite the fanservice it never felt that creepy. It was just bubblegum.

I liked SoTD because it was like a Arcadey Resident Evil 4. Probably thier best playing game and solid crowd control TPS gameplay. The 2d stuff wasn't fun and the story just felt kind of there. It began and stopped at big bonner never going further then that in attempting anything more. Can't blame it for not being anything more then a decent game though.

It's just I wanted Killer is Dead to be something. Look I'm not saying Suda 51 and GH make these fantastic stories or whatever, but they fill some of thier games with interesting narratives that are fun to think a bit more about. They can be stylish and atmospheric in thier bizzareness. Killer is Dead was just so incoherent that it lost me pretty much in chapter 2.

I barely remember anything about 1 or 2. All I remember about 2 is that the gameplay wasn't ass anymore and the mini games were actually fun. They were both pretty forgettable.

I wish Capcom made weird ass games like this again. Yeah, yeah, I know, they only published, but from the same period they also only published Clock Tower 3, Crimson Tears, Way of the Samurai 2, Flipnic, and still had Clover Studio open.

But yeah, Killer 7 kinda rocks. I'd love a revival, maybe not even a sequel just an re-make that smooths out the kinks a bit. Hell, can you imagine how awesome it would be in VR? Holy crap!

reinstalled windows 10 last night and decided to give the OS and my computer a whirl by trying out dolphin. It worked perfectly and ran like butter! Looks beautiful!

Only problem is that the controls were shit with the dual shock, just like it was on the ps2. I'm convinced this game NEEDS a gc stick or SOMETHING. Suggestions? Anyone try K7 with 360 or xbone controller? What about ds4? The main issue is aiming at Smile weakspots. On GC, I could hit it like it was nothing. I struggled doing so on the ds2 when I first got it on ps2. Having trouble doing the same on ds3.
