People have been speculating pretty hard on that "hybrid" console because it makes so much sense (at least superficially ?) as a value booster but so far it's not clear just how seamless the interpenetration will be. I haven't followed it very closely but I'm under the impression the concerns before release over the WiiU tablet being broken, lost and not easily replaced (since not sold as a single item) didn't really materialize. Never been a Nintendo guy but I would give them props to pull that concept off (even if it turns out to be dedicated gaming devices last hurrah).

I don't think Nintendo has the fortitude or foresight to make a true hybrid (guts in the handheld, doc + controller for TV/console experience.) I think they'll launch two distinct systems but they'll be like the Vita and PlayStation TV, with the TV version having a little more power than the handheld. They'll share a library but knowing Nintendo they'll still put out exclusives for one or the other for some shitty reason.

Just FYI we're coming up on 70 people banned so far for complaining people are mean to uncharted 4. This runs the gamut from garden variety threadshitting to asking people to try to get a reviewer who wrote a negative review punished or twitter-bombing them. So just in case you were going about your day thinking "wow i'm a well adjusted human being", maybe just note that you're part of a community where 70 supposedly adult people turned into crying tantrum babies because a video game they like only got a 93 instead of a 94 and some people like it enough to want to engage with it critically instead of gif spam. Absolutely embarrassing.

I actually fell for that with the DS.  I think at the time, Nintendo was not sure it was going to do well so they were hedging their bets and come out with a GBA2 if the DS didn't make it.  Not a good sign for NX (which stands for Nintendo suX lol)
