If a forum user is a paid shill, and you ignore them, is that immoral like adblocking is?

More_Badass and co's endlessly tripping over their own dicks in their hurry to defend all things No Man's Sky makes me hate the game a little more than it deserves to be.  The dude needs to stop trying to engineer the opinions of others and give it a goddamn rest for a day or two.

I like the game but even I think the GAF defense force is...problematic.

More_Badass has always been annoying with his raging erection for indie games shtick.

His antics are hilarious.

Not only did he make the review thread an 'in progress' thread, he posted that sick making foreword as it's own thread.

Guys going overboard. And he doesn't even have too. The game is already getting a huge benefit of the doubt by gaffers.

The explanation for not being able to meet other people in-game was that the universe was too big for that to be possible, but we're less than 24 hours into the launch and several people have already set up instances of being in the exact same spot as someone else. :neogaf

All you all about to eat, I predict 12 bans at least in that thread.

And 4 of them will come here, 3 will leave because it's "mean" here and if we're really lucky we will get the Sony version of Creepy Stalker for a while.

This game is gonna be eviscerated in a week or two, gonna make Spore and GTA IV look like duckling darlings when it comes to consumer reception.

People can bring up that indie devs made this all they want, these devs put themselves in the big leagues when it comes to attention and hype. If your game is touted as a system seller and costs $60, you have to deliver something significant.

Wut? You can meet other players in Elite with its 400 billion solar systems no problem. You can even meet a friend (or several) in a certain ravine on the sixth moon of the third planet of the second sun in HIP 205234 if you wanted. If the netcode feels like it that day, that is.

Difference there is Sean Murray made the idea of running into another player in his game as a biblical event that might not even happen during the game's lifetime.

The fact that two people ran into each other on day 1 in a game where the devs have actually touted how many planets a seed generator can make, is amazing in the scummiest way.

I'll eventually get it on steam. I'm most interested in seeing if someone will mod the robot voice. I watched a little bit of quick look and I'm not really feeling the robot voice. Feels a bit too try-hard to be the "quirky computer".

Also lol at that thread about the developer's "personal letter" to the players. Nah fam, that's a press kit. If it's for the players, it would've been included in all retail copies.

Man, this thread is utterly pathetic. I miss the days when people played games because they were fun and not attacked the developer every chance they got because it's not everything they thought it would be. It's just mesmerizing how rude and disrespectful people can be. Grow up

The GamerGate style attack squad is much worse.

Someone made a good point that if this was EA or Ubi they would have been obliterated already by the gaf hordes demanding answers.

Seems in the multiple NMS threads asking questions is tantamount to being 'GamerGaters'

EA and Ubi are evil money-grubbing corporations that are just out there trying to screw over gamers any chance they can get, NMS was made by a tiny group of big-hearted indie devs who worked really hard and just want gamers to experience something new and exciting.

Labeling it racism is way overblown but I do think there's a bit of a double standard with doping accusations. It's easier to level them at Russia or China and not just because there's some evidence there (and a history of state mandated doping). Jamaica running is rife with red flags (lots of major runners caught, a ridiculously low amount of controls, a dysfunctional doping agency) yet you wouldn't expect that kind of sour grapes to gain any traction or just being said out loud right after the race.

The amount of pressure this small team likely has on them after they were thrown in front of the full force of Sony's push was probably more than they could reasonably handle. I imagine they completely intended to have full functioning multiplayer but had to scrap it for whatever reason.

And I also imagine they were explicitly told to be cagey about that fact from Sony. Rock and hard place.

Shit happens.

The way Sony handled review code was ultra shady in saying no one was allowed have code till the day 1 patch, then sending code about 12 hours before the embargo. So no publication at all had a review score for one of the most anticipated titles of the year on embargo day. So it made them look like they were hiding something, which, now we know they were hiding something in the multiplayer being gone is sending people batshit crazy trying to defend the game and justifying the "Hatebase".

The minute reviews come out and someone drops a 7/10 or 8/10 on it, then it's going to explode further.

Not that it really matters and Sony as the senior player is supposed to know how marketing must be done & how the lead dev should have been chaperoned, but did they really mastermind all of the PR or does Hello Games have some say in it ?

Sony is publishing the PS4 version and was in charge of the marketing and distribution of the PS4 version as well. They were the ones who were sending review code. So they were very involved since they have a financial stake in the game though the extent of their influence on the PR is debatable.

Witholding review copies till the last moment though, that's totally on them.

the shooting, the music, graphics etc. all that was top notch

still a massive letdown due to barebones story, world, actual missions etc.

I am willing to give them another go with Destiny 2 since people are so positive about changes made in the mean time

Biggest letdown ever would have to be Dragon Age 2. Nothing comes close in my mind.

Dragon Age 2 was a timeless stinker.

Our children's children will talk about how much a stinker Dragon Age 2 was.

I dinged max too in Destiny, but Dragon Age I sold after a few hours. Shit was dank. Like interns made a game with a level editor.

Lowpoint of Bioware, but then Dragon Age 3 came which is Dragon Age: Ubisoft  :-\

God Sean Murray is incapable of giving a straight answer, isn't he ?

EDIT : The defence force really is amazing. Numerous people reading the above tweets and stating "Well it's perfectly clear, he's saying it's in but those two fellas didn't see each other because the servers are hammered"...

Wait for the Day 1 2 3 Patch.
