A suspicious number of people become vegetarian around the same time they start losing weight. The moral arguments are probably just a diversion from the real reason they started.

Don't really care if Kojima makes some character like that. What's bullshit but unconvincing to those who aren't smoking Kojimacrack was "she's like this for serious reasons."

And there's so much garbage sold as "vegetarian" or "vegan" as if a lack of animal products means something stacked with sugar is somehow magically good for you.

Wait, seriously?

Will Persona 5 require me to hammer X through countless hours of life-sim grinding?

Battle of the bargain bin purchases right here for me.

Probably for the first five hours. Then it becomes you wanting to smash X for life-sim grinding. ;)

Persona 5 hopefully will have half the content Persona 3/4 have and that content will be great from start to finish. A 30-40 hour Persona game sounds a lot more appealing than another 50-80 hour Persona game.

Big talk coming from someone with a Final Fantasy avatar. Atlus can make great dungeons when they want to (many of their series' are based entirely around dungeoning), but unfortunately they're chasing that Final Fantasy fan money with Persona now, and that means simplifying things.

Personally, I want the main cast to not suck the main character's dick for doing anything. Take someone out to get some noodles and you're treated like a golden god.

That's one of the problems I had with Persona 4 over Persona 3. Most of the cast was just buddy-buddy instead of there being drama. I know a lot of people didn't like Persona 3's strife-party, but it made sense with them being thrown together to fight impossible odds. But in any case, Persona 2's cast completely trumps Persona 1, 3 and 4's cast easily.

For a good chunk of active/regular GAF those were "their" Star Wars movies.

Like all my 1990s born cousins were prequel fanatics, until they got older, and the original trilogy seemed somewhat dated.

The hype for The Phantom Menance was insane.

And all we got out of that in the end was 20 minutes of Darth Maul and Episode I: Racer.

Not from GAF, but a comment from one review:
Quote
The Prequel Trilogy is dynamical, not mechanical. It hides some pretty weird ideas about mythology and colonization (really: ALL the humans are bad guys in the PT). The kind of grand joke is that a rescued slave becomes the main enforcer for the colonizing humans. Humans only become 'good' (integrative) because of one very big plot-point: the Rebels are born the moment Palpatine names Vader and the jedi get slaughtered wholesale.

And weirder, Annakin isn't close to being 'the chosen one' of the prophecy. If you listen to the story closely, he's the result of tinkering with nature: he's the spawn of somebody named Plaguesis (a taboo name). And his children are the reason the Emperor is defeated. Lucas creates a prophecy and a mythology he subtly tells us is entirely false. It's pretty daring and radical as a response to the simplicity of the OT.

And there's hundreds of gags that fill in the blanks: he has Kiera Knightley sub for Portman throughout Phantom Menace, and then opens Clones with Portman's voice thanking her underling...then a few seconds later the girl with the voice is bombed and the 'real' Portman/Amidala gets out of another ship.

When we look back in 40-100 years, these PT films will be taken on the level of Kubrick; they're complex takes on humanity, storytelling, tribalism, ethnic division and mythology.

That was Lucas's plan it seems, to deliver something that seems to be one thing (Jar Jar appears to be a stereotype, when actually HE'S the one stereotyping everyone else in his dialogue: Jar Jar is part of a race that got kicked off the surface of his planet by the colonizing humans.) From every non-human POV in the film, even Jar Jar, comes a natural distrust of humans. And maybe that's why people hated these films. They're uncomfortable from a human point of view.

The characters in Persona are from glorious Nippon, which teaches its students unity. It isn't like America where kids bully each other because we shove the poisonous ideas of freedom of speech and individualism down their throat as early as possible.

The over-the-top action is too much and unbelievable. So he jumps out of a driving car and smashes it into 2 cars and both explode. It looks ridiculous and takes away from the gravitas of the narrative.

Because the stories told in Mafia 1&2 were believable and had a good amount of realistic human drama?  :duh :lol  :rofl

Clueless.

Mafia 2 had realistic driving physics, and the cops would pull you over for speeding. Apparently those are the main two things on the checklist for realism and seriousness.

One of the only awesome moments in Mafia 2 was when I went to a payphone to bribe the police, and then a police car going about 50 MPH crashes through the phone booth I'm in, destroying it while I'm still alive, in the process an irish hoodlum dude got angry and 6 irishmen came out of a store to battle the police in a firefight.

This was after a mission, and I was trying to get home.

I've never really had a problem with spoilers for movies when I get them, I always like to focus on the execution more than just being surprised by some "WOAH WE WENT THERE" that's not really that shocking I guess.

Even for TV shows, if I know what happens at the end of the season, I still like to see how the journey gets there. Like the reveal of Moriarty on Elementary, you knew it was coming at some point anyway, and as soon as they started to setup for the twist it became kinda obvious but it was well executed and that's what was enjoyable. Same for Mr. Robot, you knew what the big twist was going to be, it was all the tiny ones and specific scenes that made the adventure to there crazy.

My recent favorite was Into Darkness' big moment where the thrilling music comes in and builds to him saying "My name is Khan!" Like the characters are even supposed to know who that is, or people who've never seen Star Trek are supposed to know why that's a big deal, while everyone else already knew it was Khan for like a year.

But J.J. is obsessed with that whole "mystery box" concept, and so was Orci I think.
