Otaku thread still going.
I'm going to be straight honest, a lot of the anime people tell me to watch is tolerable up to the point where the fanservice kicks in or the humor just doesn't make an impact since I'm not 13 anymore. It's all repetitive hijinx too in terms of like awkward accidents, peep shows and shit.

I tried watching Kill La Kill because people said it made fun of fanservice but it's basically just hyper self-aware fanservice. I didn't really need MORE of it regardless of whether it's shitty satire or not.
The anime I tend to gravitate towards is 80/90s shonen or whatever it's called. The art direction and color spaces are way more interesting (it's usually post apocalyptic, dark, brooding) and there's just something about the atmosphere that makes my hair stand up on end.
I've been also wanting to watch Cyber City Oedo 808, how's that one.
