Of course, as always we do not tolerate commercial self-promotion, and if you're an astroturfer trying to manipulate NeoGAF's environment artificially, or a dev or pub making a thread copy-pasting PR material as an attempt at free advertising, you will be rooted out and booted out. But don't let that warning dissuade you, as a neutral third party with regards to a particular product, from creating a thread about something if you think it deserves it.

Seriously, I want VR to succeed. But this launch stuff is trash.
EL is in the money making business. This is why community threads were shuffled to the community thread and megathreads are frowned upon. Getting new threads ups page views, since it's more engagement and clicks.
Now that VR is here, more threads can be created.
The problem is that the posting behavior of GAFFers is still in that older mold and why you see posters always saying, "A thread exists already", "Another thread?"
Long time posters still post updates to older threads instead of making new ones.
There's a tension between the community of NeoGAF and EL moneymaking activities.
I don't fault EL for being a capitalist, it's just that his members still don't get it. They think GAF is still fun hangout and that's it. They're totally ignorant and unaware how the design, moderation policy and all that come from profit driven lens. It's cute.
Again, I don't fault EL for making money. I just find it funny how clueless most of the community is to this.
