So if the rumor is true that the NX is 30% more powerful overalll than the PS4, then once again, I'm not sure what Nintendo's trying to accomplish.
On the one hand, I'm glad the horrendous, sub-GC level failure of the Wii-U hasn't scared them off the idea of going with generational power jumps.
On the other hand, Nintendo would achieve parity with a console that'll be about 3 years old already. This doesn't take into account either the PS4.5 or the PS5 which would probably be released another 2 years later, thus putting Nintendo back into the same position they were with both the Wii and Wii-U, where third party publishers would completely ignore the consoles because the hardware is too primitive and they've already invested in current gen tech.
Sure, there's no guarantee that publishers would bother offering ports to Nintendo even if their hardware matched the competition's, but it seems like a better risk than half-assing things once again.
