framerates in that generation
a lot of control schemes in that generation
That generation was
outside of 2D fighting games and other such arcade games
Tomb Raider, Resident Evil, and others were worthwhile. Yes, there's camera issues but that's due to the jump to 3D. Hell camera issues still weren't resolved in the PS2 era.
Less trash and more 'you had to be there'.
That gen was all about figuring how the fuck 3D is suppose to work, so along with that comes all these growing pains that make those games feel dated af.
Add to this some pretty flawed tech and that gen winds up retroactively looking a mess.
But back then it must have been exciting: the novelty of 3D, a shit ton of new IPs, some games that were actually groundbreaking.
I can imagine 2D stans being completely put off, esp coming off the SNES where 2D was already established and then pretty much perfected.
Safe to say those same stans knew some kanji. Could have copped a Saturn and some imports while me and the Revolution stay woke with Chameleon Twist.
