Critical analysis doesn't concern itself with the effort the creator put into an image, just that the image is there and readable, and follows a certain logic the critic decides on. But besides that, Zack Snyder is an art house director with a love of genre films, he's most definitely put more details into scenes and their meaning than I could gather. Critical analysis is about the viewer finding meaning in art, from whatever their view point is. No one is wrong unless it severely deviates from the text of the film, like saying Clark isn't a Jesus allegory.

Film analysis is all about finding "bigger existential" meanings, especially in a film where a man prays to the "creator of heaven and earth" while laser beam eyes destroy the building he's standing in.

The Decepticons are, in this series at least, the actual champions of the working class. Of course, the race and gender aspect is still a part of it: Devastator is hunched like an ape, and features a massive vagina-dentata mouth, in the tradition of Predator. But check the middle of Devastator's transformation sequence: one of his hands walks around on its own, before joining with the body. There are a ton of horror movies where the hand revolts against the mind, as in District 9 - with obvious connotations. Here, though, Devastator's body is entirely "hands". This isn't imagery of lost agency, but of communion. The workers literally unite as a single entity.

I would actually argue that Devastator didn't "fail to kill" Skids (or Mudflap, whichever). I choose to believe that he spared them.

The specific means by which Devastator is eventually killed present a very important contrast, so keep an eye out for that

Cookie dough is the best straight from the tube. Normal cookies are alright, but pecan sandies (shortbread cookies with pecan pieces) shit on every traditional cookie, baked fresh or not.
