On the subject of GAF Gold and GAF ad and moderation throes.
First, the whole thing is so meta that the GAF autists will jizz themselves so hard over the fact that their long-standing inside joke becomes reality that they will purchase a gold membership just for that fact alone. Like the exploitative bastard that he is, Lore let those fools hype up GAF Gold for years with their shitty jokes. Now that he has raped everyone's eyes with shitty ads (or the loyalists who refuse to adblock anyway), this is a ripe opportunity to squeeze every last drop out of them as a final hail mary to save his languishing website.
Several of you have pointed out that this will cause a bit of a conundrum for the ban-happy mods. Are they going to be as eager to ban paying members, and if they are, will they get a prompt slap with a ruler by their overlord?
Which brings me to yet another point. GAF has the worst moderators on the internet. I think the root of the problem is a conflict of interest. See, on normal forums, moderators are supposed to be impartial keepers of board etiquette. You'll rarely see mods get involved in arguments with regular posters, they try to remain objective and step in only to regulate those who violate forum policy. Not to steer the discourse in the direction that suits their agenda, not to stifle discussion, etc. But you see, the mods on GAF are nerds, and their whole life revolves around GAF, so they can't help themselves but get involved in internet pissing matches. They want their stupid little opinions to be known, while keeping an air of objectivity, superiority, and the droves of lobotomized gaffers feed their god complex with stupid Samuel L. Jackson memes and such. They want to have their cake an eat it too (or in besada's case, two cakes). They would like to appear to be objective arbiters of Internet law, but get in arguments and abuse their esteemed powers to push their agendas (whether their beliefs are on the right side of history or not notwithstanding).
TLDR version: GAF mods/Evilore just shot themselves in the foot. I don't know if you guys know much about moderation culture (I am an expert), honor and shame are huge parts of it.
