Caught my penultimate ban for "using the term SJW unironically," and caught my last ban for saying that you can't have real discourse in the echo chamber and the mod message was basically "bro, all you do is shit on GAF so we will help you out and perma you." Honestly my reaction was like  fair enough. The mod wasn't wrong, I was very cantankerous at the end.

I knew I was skirting a perma every time I ventured into any kind of political/gender-war/race thread. Basically a lot of people can't really be themselves on GAF without getting banned. They'll have you think that anyone who isn't completely agreeable with the prevailing views on GAF is a an alt-right, misogynist, racist piece of shit that belongs on stormfront. But in reality, a large portion of the people they've shunned are progressives, just not as fringe and kooky as them.

Meh, I answered that one because I had posted the only public-facing statement about that, and since you asked what happened I thought I'd link it. But even there the pushback sort of reminded me why it's a bad idea to be GAF Mod Person here. I've said before that I joined this place years before I became a mod on GAF, and my role in reading/posting here isn't to represent the moderation staff.

Secondly, what's to clear up? Some people here hate the site. Others may like it overall or just specific aspects of it while simultaneously having legitimate (or illegitimate) gripes. People want a place to vent, and they're free to do so here. Even if I did want to roll up my sleeves and type up a response explaining all of our actions that would just be met with TL;DR response gifs, I'm not sure if there's anything even remotely productive I could do.
