I've got no problem with people letting off steam. I agree that some people out there on the internet only ever post about negative shit and it's a total downer. Like someone on my Facebook, all she does is bitch. But on the opposite spectrum, it feels like the internet is becoming this blackhole of faux positivity where everything in life is happy, everything is carefree, and every day is an adventure as really, really fucked up shit is going all around us. It comes across as a species wide apathy, and it feels like social media - or rather, Facebook in particular - fuels it. My own cousin unfollowed me on Facebook because I post about "too many negative things." It's like people want a constant sense of validation and a care free hug box zone. That's not to say we should relish and thrive upon these bad feelings, but it's almost as if the collective millenial's main modus operandi now is to deter anything that may drudge up any "negative" feeling or thought or something that goes against the status quo. It is methodically craven in its pursuit of "peace" with as little conflict as possible without ever parlaying anything of substance.
Internet is the new Opium of the people.
