I want to say that even though I disagree with libertarians, I used to work at the Cato Institute (I have family that still does) and there's a lot of genuinely good people there who are perfectly okay to hang out with. I think the Internet portrays them poorly.

Probably because normal people *turns around and shouts loudly* don't know about the treachery of the anarchists that brought down the International Workingmen's Association.

Man, if I ever saw this, I'd be talking loudly to the staff and pointing and gesturing wildly. If they've got that little sense about sanitization, who knows when the last time was they washed after wiping?

People who put animals above humanity. There's nothing wrong with liking animals or caring for them, but the people who act like humanity is such a pox and are misanthropic are society's lowest ::) .

Especially considering how animals can be straight savage without a shred of the softer emotions humans tend to have.

People who greet me at the door, anywhere.

I'm just not having it today.

The Chipotle near me does this. It's like 50 yards from the door to their counter and they randomly have to yell hello to you as you enter. It's very disorientating.

The girls that hang around on the streets that try to talk you into donating money and they are all cherpy and they are all like 'we're with Doctors without boarders' while doing an exaggerated motion to point to their vest patch which is next to their lovely lovely breasts and I try not to look but I do and I let them talk because I'm lonely and as they keep talking I feel like we have a special relationship because out of all the people on the street she picked me and called me 'guy with the cool sun glasses' and I know deep down that that was only a ploy to draw me in but it worked and I don't know what she is saying anymore because she has brown eyes and a nose ring and suddenly she stops talking and I say 'Sorry all my donations go to Doctors who respect maps.'

Is it worse to learn that they work for a random sales agency geared towards miscellaneous charities and are assigned a charity to shill for on a weekly basis, and that they didn't actually sign up for their particular passion for Doctors Without Borders/Sick Kids' Foundation/etc.....?

Really?  that sucks.  I always feel bad because I feel like I should be donating.  Well now I'm going to feel less bad.  I always wondered why they never asked for volunteers.

I feel like people increasingly are walking advertisements for their political/religious beliefs which makes all these kinds of conversations utterly pointless.

I understand having deeper than normal thoughts on subjects and wanting to talk about that shit sometimes. But people have tipped too far over the other way.

I got suckered in one time for one of them shilling for Sick Kids and gave a couple hundred bucks.  That's what he told me, that they sign up specifically to canvass for charities, but not a particular charity, and that they get assigned different ones at different times according to marketing needs, I guess.  And, as such, they're not volunteers.  They're paid a wage for their time pestering people on the street.

Still good causes, but that's how it is.

I don't talk politics or religion to anyone IRL.  If anyone says anything, I just say, "I don't really care about politics" or play dumb (which isn't that much of a stretch lol).  I don't care what anyone really believes in these days even if they share my political or religious views.

Do this all the time. Stopping the alarm with one second left so you don't have to hear the ringer. :noah
