The point being, Pokemon GO justifies itself being played on my smartphone more than any other smartphone game - the vast majority of which are crap, and the remaining few are ones I would rather play on a real system.

Yeah just drag your laptop to the shitter, like a totally normal, not crazy person

My point is there are other games that are optimally used on a mobile device. Sure, you can play it on a desktop, but what makes Threes so great is being able to play for short bursts or long stretches anywhere, as well as being far more accessible and immersive on a touchscreen than anywhere else. Pokemon Go is far from the first or only game to get mobile gaming 'right'. Go itself isn't even the first game to do what it's doing, it just has a license that makes it appeal to a far broader crowd than it would/did without it.

Tried twice for a Moltres Tuesday, ran out of balls both times. Was sick and home-confined Wednesday. Got wasted Thursday. Train to CT Friday, which means I'm in the boonies until Monday.

So basically Monday is my last chance for a Moltres. 😫

@NianticHelp
Trainers, thank you for your feedback on EX Raid Battles. We're working to improve the invitation system based on what we heard from you.

Who fuckin knows what that means, players from cities around here are getting a third pass already and my small town group of 50 players are still waiting for their first...

i was in deep with the local PoGo players. Wasn't at all affiliated with them cause nerds are smelly, but when raids came out I had no choice.

I managed to distance myself after doing 4-5 raids a day for a month. Those three weeks with the legendary birds were insane. I was walking into work 2 hours late each day  :lol

Finally the wife had enough and gave me an ultimatum. Realized I was being ridiculous so I stopped.

Others weren't so lucky though - they're really in deep. Huge nerd drama in the discords i'm a part of and after two months a lot of them are starting to burn out and get sick of each other  :lol

Meanwhile i'm over here soloing T3 raids and just going back to playing with myself. Pokemon Go brehs.

I got a Pokémon Go Plus for Christmas and it honestly makes the game so much better.

- Far more resilient GPS (the app got an update a few months ago that made GPS super flaky on my Pixels 1 and 2, the Plus seems to use GPS code from before that update.)
- Still tracks egg distance even with your screen off or the app in the background (literal gamechanger.)
- Pairs super easily.
- Long battery life.
- I've gotten so many items and quite a bit of XP thanks to my office sitting on a Pokestop, without being busted for having it out on my phone.
- Actually catching Pokemon is the weakest part, you only get one shot with a single normal Pokeball (no berries or Great/Ultra balls, and second chances.) So I haven't caught a lot with it so far.
- However, an advantage it does have is its *speed* of attempting the catch. Instead of waiting for the network and all the bullshit animations, after you press the button to throw, you'll know if you've caught it within five seconds (oftentimes less, since it can run after the first or second "ball jiggle.")

Biggest advantage: being able to keep the Plus in your pocket as you walk around in 9-degree weather while still spinning Pokestops and attempting to catch 'mons.

Today's the first #PokemonGOCommunityDay, which means you can get a Surf-having Pikachu today only. Got five of the little buggers on the way back from Burger King.

The GO Plus has been invaluable since I got it. Makes playing effortless and honestly I probably wouldn't be playing right now without it.

There was a two week span it stopped working after a Pokémon Go update, but the PoGo Plus was also weird during that time. Outside of that it’s been perfect.

WIRED: The Quiet, Steady Dominance of Pokémon Go

Quote
By every measure that matters, Pokémon Go has been a winner. Since its launch, it has almost never dropped out of the daily top 100 downloaded apps in both the iOS App Store and the Google Play Store, according to app analytics company App Annie. It has been the top-grossing app in the Play Store this entire week. In two years, according to an estimate by app analytics firm Apptopia, it has taken in $1.8 billion in revenue.

"Even though the mega spending at the beginning has died off, the rate of revenue is still highly impressive," says Apptopia communications lead Adam Blacker. "Where the money comes from is actually pretty evenly split between iOS and Android, which is unusual."

...

But the most impressive indicator of Pokémon Go’s sustained success is how much of their lives people devote to it. To this day, more cumulative time is spent playing Pokémon Go than any other game. It’s not even close: One in five minutes spent on the top 20 games on Android in May was devoted to chucking virtual Pokéballs.

That they made extremely quickly because it's a placeholder for their models in Go. :doge

At this point, if they're giving us "Nutto" at least let it jam a bolt through itself as an evo. And then admit they're creatively bankrupt and give us Missingno as an official Pokemon.

News so big, CNN is reporting on it.  :lol

Quote
(CNN)For more than 20 years, Ash Ketchum has wanted be the very best -- like no one ever was.

The Pokémon trainer has traveled across the land, searching far and wide, in an attempt to catch 'em all. But in all his years of training and battling, the forever ten-year-old has virtually always lost out to stronger trainers in Pokémon League tournaments, falling short of his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master.
Until now, that is.
In the latest episode of "Pokémon the Series: Sun and Moon," Ash finally wins the championship competition of the Alola League, marking the first time the protagonist has won an official Pokémon League tournament. (Not counting his victory in the Orange Islands League.)

The original rationale for him always losing was that it would mean the end of the anime.

Since next year's Pokemon anime is rebootedly titled just "Pocket Monsters" and the only confirmed fact is that it features all eight canon regions.

Basically something like this is gonna transpire now that Ash touched the trophy:

It's not bad, but it's still lame that in-game there's nothing about how some items are used. What does this STONE do? How do I evolve this one into that one instead of some other one I already evolved?

Yeah, I know, if I'm playing Pokemon Go, I'm on an internet-connected device. Design wise, anything that compels me to leave the game is a chance that I'll not go back to playing the game.
