Still waiting on a game to top Shadowrun - and I'm talking the SNES-era game, not the garbage namesake released recently.

The three new Shadowrun games are pretty good, though.

Yeah I meant that FPS abomination. Haven't tried the "Returns" stuff. Is it really good? How does it compare to the OG?

Shadowrun Returns is alright, a little weak on the story but a decent return to turn-based strategic combat. But the Director's Cuts of Dragonfall and Hong Kong are both really, really good. Great stories and characters, improved combat and strategy, better music. You should definitely give them a shot if you liked the old Shadowrun games.

Nay, started with the first one. I mean I bought it, might as well play it. Plus I get to see where they're coming from.

So, I've put a few hours in. Just got past the 2nd time around the docks bit. It's alright so far. Artstyle is spot on. Enjoyed the nod at the OG Shadowrun (SNES). The RPG bits seem diverse enough.

My main criticisms so far are that the game is overall fairly... barebones? Not a big fan of the fact that so far it seems like it's just going to be a collection of really tiny maps completely independent and disconnected from each other. Doesn't leave much of potential for exploration (the giant icons indicating what can be grabbed etc don't help) and it looks like it's going to be fairly linear.
The Matrix bits are really dumb from what I've seen, it's just more or less the same as the regular stuff but with a neon filter :| I was expecting some sort of puzzle-like stuff like the SNES game.

Also:

Someone in my wife's family is a red head with dreads. We were at a family dinner and she started talking about how she's a vegan. I just said "of course you are." She thought it was a compliment :neogaf
  is she single? :phil

 :lol
No dreads in real life but...

Yo, thumbs up on those games. I'll echo the same, skip Returns and play Shadowrun: Dragonfall instead. If you love it then Hong Kong has more of the same.

I feel that it's not really talked about these days because it unfortunately got overshadowed by X-COM that came out a few months later which made a much bigger splash.
