Ni No Kuni 2 is cool.

FF7 remake looked decent too, despite that battle system being worrying. SE will probably fuck it up.

Game is going to be awful if they're trying to emulate what Western games did five years ago.

Game's already gonna be awful because it's Final Fantasy 7:doge Unless they redo the story (and hopefully they are since it's a modern age where translations aren't horrible), no thanks. That Blade Barret though. Needs to say "I WAS BORN READY, MOTHERFUCKER" at some point. :doge

Sounds like KOF is coming to PC with the way they worded it.

I'd imagine the Japanese devs are keeping the wishy washy wording in case they want to port to PC or NX later on as well.

I tried watching some of this but like the thread title says zzz. FFVII is gonna turn out to be hot :trash but may be worth it for some nostalgia destroying fun via sale.

5 years? That's Tomb Raider 2013 right there.

I don't mind, the 'dungeons' needed some kind of movement thing. Recreating the old top-down 16bit style sections would have looked awful.
Remember the optional area where you catch frogs and catapult yourself around using giant pitcher plants or something? :doge

I agree with redesigning dungeon stuff, but not in the same vein as say, Tomb Raider 2013 or linear AAA action games.

I'm going to guess that the remake is going to be very linear for the majority of story beats, and there will be a couple really big open areas. I would not be shocked if it follows the FFXIII formula, where you do linear main quest stuff for 20 hours and the open world is used for hunting monsters/doing monster hunter missions.

FFXIII is a fantastic game after you get real freedom to build a party and play the game proper. The super linear stuff was terrible because the story went nowhere for 20 hours. FFVII wont have that issue with its story. Love it or hate it, stuff happens and things change with FFVII's story/plot.

Who knows how prevalent this stuff is going to be. They could be loading transitions or backtracking cutoff or whatever game designers call those; the usual ledges wouldn't make much sense. Squeeze through. Uh-uh, it collapsed. Go that way now pls. That sort of thing.

I'm not sure what the complaint is. The entirety of the Midgar section is just like that: linear and makes you go from point A to Point B constantly with cut offs from the last place you visited. It's not until you leave Midgar that the world opens up and you get a lot more freedom in where to go, and we've yet to see any of that.

I'm not complaining. I mainly don't want gameplay filler like crawling underneath a rubble crawlspace or shimmying past broken shit throughout the entire game. If its in that one section, I'm going to guess other areas throughout the game will have "setpieces" like Tomb Raider 2013 has.

Linearity isn't bad either, but you have to be high off hype to not realize the remake as a whole is going to be a lot more linear and funneled. FFVII without doing side content is a 40-60 hour long game. FFXV, Kingdom Hearts 3, and this remake are all in development at the same time. There is no way the remake will have the same scope and exploration of the original FFVII with the visuals and full voice acting it has.

My point is, instead of an open world to run around in, you're going to be put in a field and told to go somewhere. The original version of FFVII funnels you, but you're allowed to do what you want for large sections of the game.

There will probably be an objective arrow or something, because that's just standard today. I don't see them fucking with the structure though, given what we've seen of FF15. Maybe segmented the way it is in Xenogears X. They can't possibly want to go back to FF13 style tubes.

Midgar is the best part of FF7, well maybe leaving Midgar and looking at the map thinking the rest will be just as amazing

It wasn't bad from announcements. But it's not moving me to get a PS4 since most of what they announced would be coming to PC. I understand why people are shitting on it though because the pacing was awful, expectations were sky high and people were sour over the PS2 emulation not being disc compatible.

Also that VR segment was kinect reveal bad. Great job, Jeremy. Again.
