~~THINK OF THOSE WHO DON'T CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS, HEATHEN~~ Naw, who gives a fuck. We had Hanukkah stuff last weekend and my wife and I didn't even give each other anything because we were just pretty much buying whatever for ourselves for the last few weeks.

Over the past month, I bought a bunch of games n' toys and also basically bought another Windows 8 tablet that I frankly didn't really need but got anyway.

Also got some new furniture and ponied up for an Apple TV despite saying I wasn't going to get another one. $:-\$ It works great but I really didn't want to spend $150 on a streaming device when other companies have devices for half that or even less. But it has certain streaming apps that Roku doesn't have.

I bought a new stack of books while looking for gifts to others and I will probably pick up a dozen of games from the holiday sale.

I need a larger house before I can buy new toys for myself. Most of my musical instruments don't fit in my current apartment.

That specific one is great, but if you are riding around in the winter without covering your neck literally anything that does will make your life better.

Didn't see a new buy thread for 2016 and so hijacking this one to post pickups from my Japan trip. Most of it was just clean up since I already import the stuff I actually want; most games were like $3-15 pick ups. Also got a bunch of souvenir stuff that I didn't take photos of like magnet hanging snow monkeys and totoro towels and stuff.

Got about 1/2 of the stuff in Tokyo, about 1/4rd I was carrying around pickups from Osaka when I met you, and about 1/4th was from other stuff. A lot of it was pretty damn cheap though, like I got God Eater 2 vita for $-7 because Sofmap was doing a "buy 5 used games and get 10% off" thing, and I had 4 games totaling around $100, so I picked up GE2 for 370yen and got $10 off my entire order for doing so. Good times

thanks, man. the scope is Leupold VX-2. I won a lucky ebay bid and got it brand new for 190. It seems to generally retail for between 270 and 300 though so I'm pretty damn happy and it works great.

Time for another ASUS monitor!

Ordered the ASUS MX299Q. It's a 29" 21:9 2560x1080 AH-IPS monitor, pretty much exactly like the 27" MX that I use for my consoles, but ultra-widescreen. The height is about 23", so it's just like the monitor I use for my PC now, but with a good 6-7" of extra space. Gives you that dual monitor feel, only without the bezels splitting it down the middle, and it doesn't take as much power to run.

Time for some ultra-wide gaming!

This thing needs about 33% horsepower to run games at 2560x1080...I see some FPS drops of 5-10 in some games I tried. Interestingly enough, since you can just use the monitor settings to force the 21:9 aspect ratio, I was able to leave some games as 1920x1080, but they'd "stretch" out to fill the screen without looking like it. Basically gives me back the missing frames but stays the same res.

Heh, that photo was just me trying it out on a little folding table to make sure it didn't have any dead or stuck pixels...would have sent that sucker right back. I probably have enough room on my desk for a dual monitor setup, but I prefer it this way. It's so nice not having a bezel splitting the screen.

SFV doesn't support ultra wide screen, so it runs bordered. Didn't check to see if someone came up with a workaround yet. IIRC I have a GTX 860m in my laptop.
