It is fun, but you have to stay hidden. Tank Destroyers are made of beer cans. Artillery is made of kerosene soaked tissue paper.

Tier advancement is per any tank's research line. Research better gear for your tank. The next tanks available are on the right hand side of the research tree. Frequently, it is not necessary to research ALL of the current tank's packages before researching and purchasing the next Tier tank.

Spend the free gold I got to convert XP and got my Tier 5 tank I wanted.

My first medium tank, the PZ IV H. Really so slow compared to the light tanks I had before so will take some time to get used to. I think the big grind will start now and I'll be snail pacing my way towards the Tier 7 Tiger.

I got pitched against some Tier 7 tanks and it hurt a lot.

I hope they do add a Tier 11/12 with more "modern" (which are getting old too now) tanks like the Leopard 1/2, Abrams, T72/90, Challenger, Merkava etc.

Don't be in a rush to ascend. As you've seen, an unmodified tank will have shortcomings when battling against higher Tier tanks. Even in my Tier IX, I am frequently pwned by Xs with casual impunity.

You could have spent your Gold on Premium Time, and won Free XP, additional Tank XP, and Silver. Premium Time offsets the grind, but buying XP will just put you in a tight situation sooner than you'd like.

I love the German Mediums. Not as much as the Soviets but they are great tanks,

That wouldn't exactly be fair. A single Abrams or a Challenger would mop the floor with any 12 tier 10's it went against.

I enjoy playing lower-Tier tanks more than higher ones. I also like driving light tanks better than just about anything else. It sure is fun playing heavy or TD and landing the big hits, though!

You can't advance from these premium tanks, can you? Do they earn more money or something?

Premium Tanks do not offer research-able components; they're already in their Super Saiyan form.

You can move Crew from a regular tank to a Premium one without having to retrain them.

Premium Tanks have different attributes, but -yeah- usually there's a Silver bonus or Crew XP bonus. Training your Crew can be the biggest grind in the game, and being able to get the sweet 2X multiplier on XP earned for Crew XP is important.

You should still be enjoying lower-Tier tanks at this point. There's plenty to learn without all that expense. You can get quite a bit of Free XP and Silver through the lower-Tier battles. High-Tier battles can be expensive to fight.

Yeah I checked it out already, it's pretty steep, plus I'm not too excited about the German TIX and TX (heavy) tanks

If I knew that there would be a TXI with the Leopard 1 and TXII with the Leopard 2 I'd be more happy to face that grind.

Yup, you really can't play tier VIII and up with no premium. The chance of losing silver is massive if you have a bad game.

Got my Tiger 2, the tank I wanted before I started and my fav WW2 tank. Just need to upgrade it a bit cause stock is meh.

Will prob stick to tier 8 for now and enjoy it as well as my Tiger 1

I like the maneuverability and tension/suspense of being utterly frail, but working in a support role. I love spotting for long hitters like TDs and Heavies.

I've been around since the closed beta and played in a lot of tanks. Here's some thoughts.

I'm currently running

Chi-Ri Tier VII auto loader: Nice sniper, no armor.

KV-4 Tier VIII heavy: Using the ZIS option. I can pen tier 10's frontally and it has great armor. Slow.

E50 Tier IX medium: This tank is a fucking grind. I finally unlocked a decent package.

I'm as using;

PV IVS Premium Tier VI medium: Great Sniper.
 Makes a lot of money.

My two all time favorite tanks:

T-34-85 Tier VII medium: Fucking best medium in game. Fast, good slopes armor, and hits like a mule.

T29:m Americam Tier VIII heavy: Nothing pens that turret.

Tiger 2 stock is fucking shit so far for me, terrible K/D ratio I get smacked all the time. Got the first upgrade now but it still feels not nearly as commanding as the Tiger 1 which I can get 3/4 kills with regularly.

In Tier IV and higher, I'm surprised how frequently I get kills in Light Tanks. But, yeah, the bulk of XP comes from spotting or disabling the tracks of vehicles, letting other tankers rain fire on them.

Specially the AMX line and the Chaffee tend to get a lot of kills. Big guns on small tanks.

LOL at myself this morning; I /have/ this. I've got the full package for it, and I can't play it for shit. I never manage to decide between rushing and staying mobile near the enemy front, or situating myself somewhere and sniping to benefit from the height/camo/accuracy. The rotationally-challenged turret really messes with me.

Yeah, they can really change the tide. It's the worst though when no-one at all is running defense for my Arty. It's the best when no-one is running defense for Red Team Arty though.
