Game Freak is terrible at optimizing their games, like even their GBA 2D platformer runs at sub-60 fps for some odd reason. 3DS isn't exactly a strong system though. :/ I just hope it has N3DS enhancement features where it runs much smoother with no drops. I know XY/ORAS's engine can run with no drop when you hack the kernel of the N3DS system and unlock the clock speed.

That said, I like some of the new Pokemon designs here, especially the owl (but I'm a bit biased towards birds lol). The seal looks super lame though

Popplio = Water/Fighting

Popplio gets out the best, like the last ridiculed water starter Oshawott. Can't wait to own all the Popplio haters.

I mean I can't imagine there being any further mainline games on the 3DS, outside a sequel/third version of Sun/Moon (Meteor? Star? Comet?)

The precedence being Gen 5 which didn't have any remakes either. I can't imagine what Sinnoh would look like with Sun/Moon's camera and beefier hardware.

New Pokemon:

Big metagame news: Hyper Training lets you increase a Pokemon's Individual Values (IVs) for the first time in series history.

Previously, these semi-random values (0-31 for each stat) would be assigned to a Pokemon on catching or hatching them, and would be hard-coded forever. You could influence them by breeding two Pokemon with strong IVs but it was time consuming to get the exact loadout you wanted.

No those are Effort Values (EVs) and they'll probably remain mostly unchanged. EV training a Pokemon in XY takes like 10 minutes though with hordes, Pokerus and a Macho Brace.

IVs are what most whiners have been complaining about since it requires lots of egg hatching if you don't have a good Ditto, and the values are completely static.
