Game would be better figuring out some better way of handling stats than fucking EVs and IVs but whatever at least it's "easier" to deal with worst system in any JRPG I can think of.

If you mean the deepest and best system of any JRPG then you're right. There's a reason Pokemon's the only competitive JRPG and has endured for over twenty years with the same fundamental stat system.

There are a bunch of spergs who don't want to let go of their childhoods?

I mean it's great that they are less pointless grinds now, but that always seemed kind of the point of them in the first place. A simple stat allocation / talent system would serve the same purpose without wasting everyone's time.

Are there even any other "competitive JRPGs" out there? I think you're just making up words now to put it on a pedestal.

I don't think anyone would actually miss the arcane (read: tedious) shit you have to do to train Pokemon 'properly'. Maybe it's gotten easier though, I don't follow the games' development closely.

I don't think anyone's saying the battle system is bad. Just the mechanics to make a really good Pokemon for competitive play is absolutely tedious and annoying.

It got easier thanks to Ditto sharing its IV values with the eggs they make, but it's still ass.

Wish they could revamp that shit wholesale already but I'm guessing that'd be rather difficult to do because there's so many mons you'd have to rebalance. I hope they find a really good solution even though that'll probably take them generations to do that.

Hyper Training and Super Training/hordes take care of most of the complaints I think.

IVs aren't hardcoded from birth and can be increased to the max without breeding hundreds of eggs now.

EVs take 10-15 minutes to finish on a clean Pokemon.

The system in Sun/Moon is fine unless you believe you should get perfectly trained Pokemon for free and without putting any work in, in which case I'll respectfully disagree.

The EV IV shit is for the spergs anyway. It has no bearing on the casual play.

Its like other RPG speedrunners who do "step manipulation" or "RNG manipulation" to pull off things.

Yeah, no denying that it doesn't affect casual play. I had thoughts of trying out competitive play but ehhhh I really do not have the time or patience to bother with the EV/IV shit. I'm more of a casual player anyways. I still can get by Red/Blue without telling much of a difference outside of a few things when it comes to battles.

Is the Alola form of a Pokemon some bullshit trigger like Mega Evolution or is it an actual new Pokemon with its own Pokedex entry?

Do they still have Mega Evolution in these games?

It seems like there might be a Mega Evolution Dragonite but in general the feeling in the VGC seems to be Gamefreak is moving away from it and focusing on Z-Moves instead which might be easier to balance.

Alolan Pokemon presumably occupy the same Pokedex entry as their non-Alolan couterparts, but like Shellos' different forms it depends on where you catch them. In Shellos' case, pink Shellos were found in western Sinnoh and blue Shellos were found in the east. If you caught either of them it "counted" the same as far as your Pokedex was concerned.

Alolan versions of Pokemon are likely the only species found in the wild in Alola, and they appear to have different movesets and typings, but otherwise I think the Shellos comparison is accurate.

So will existing Mega Evolutions be present in this game? Will you be able to get the stones to use those forms exist in this game? Will Alola Pokemon be obtainable in the future?

It seems weird to make gen-specific Pokemon, which is the way it seems to be going. They should have made the Mega Evolutions their own Pokedex entries so there would be some permanence to them.

I don't see why they wouldn't. They made them. Same as the stupid "go to these specific stones to evolve Eevee" Grass and Fairy(?) evolutions in Gen 5.

I would say probably.

Will Alola Pokemon be obtainable in the future?

I would say yes, but only via transferring from past games.

It seems weird to make gen-specific Pokemon, which is the way it seems to be going. They should have made the Mega Evolutions their own Pokedex entries so there would be some permanence to them.

TBH I don't know why they didn't do that, aside from the fact that #003 Venusaura and #645 Mega-Venusaur being so far apart might seem weird. Mega Evolutions in general seemed to always be a battle-specific concept, so I guess I don't have a problem with them not being outside of battles either.

I don't see why they wouldn't. They made them. Same as the stupid "go to these specific stones to evolve Eevee" Grass and Fairy(?) evolutions in Gen 5.

They always seem to try to ensure that past evolution paths are at least doable in new gens, even if the Pokemon used for them aren't available without transferring. See also: Rotom's forms (there's a place to change forms at-will in every single mainline game following Platinum even when Rotom wasn't available.)

Leafeon (Moss Rock) and Glaceon (Ice Rock) were Gen 4 btw, and Sylveon (Gen 6) evolves in a weird way involving a fairy type move and Pokemon-Amie stuff.

Like 20 minutes.  There's a postgame area where you can catch Pokemon though.

That you don't keep, but you get a Nugget to send to the full game from if you do 3 catches and then end it.

If you do 3 Battles, you get an item in the same area as well.

There's a girl near a couple Slowpokes down the road that'll have you ride a Tauros to break rocks and get another item to send to the main game.

There's day events, but those aren't happening yet.

I gotta say, outside of the :kobeyuck -tastic anti-aliasing the presentation is nice. I started up X like a week ago, but Aloha region is farrrrr more engaging just from the short time here alone.
