Is it just me or is the gaming side of this forum pretty dead?

Off-topic still seems fairly active with regulars plus everyone loves to bitch about gaf for some reason, but man the gaming side is a ghost town these days.  Like 4-5 threads updated per day.  Did all the people who actually play games leave the forum?

Gaming side has slowed down but honestly I also don't think a lot of great single player games have come out recently. Doom was popular but outside of that I've been spending all my time with multiplayer games and there is not really a lot to post about when it comes to that. Still enjoying overwatch. Still enjoying Rainbow Six siege, etc.

Yeah I'm sort of seeing this a bit.  Which is weird because I thought 2016 was like big year of games with FFXV and stuff, but gaming seems so quiet these days.  I think that transition to the mobile world is definitely becoming noticeable.

i got the ds version so i can finally see the shitty new content they added in. i hope to God it's not as padded out as the bonus Final Fantasy content Tose did. that shit was horrible. otherwise it's still a great game. now that I've played most of the Dragon Quest games i can really see the influence in CT, most notably in the fast-paced scenario design. which, not coincidentally, was the biggest thing missing in Chrono Cross and the main reason that game sucked.

To be honest even if gaming weren't sucking for me I have quite a bit of games to still get through. Still haven't beaten The Evil Within, LoZ TP HD, Pokemon AlphaSapphire, haven't bought Link Between Worlds, MH Generations, etc.

I just don't game much these days even though I have a lot of content I want to get through. The fire just ain't there brehs.

Honestly nothing too big has come out recently, even I've been playing less and less new games. Sure stuff like Tokyo Mirage Sessions and what not are solid games but what is there really to say about those?

When some of the heavy hitters like Deus Ex, Final Fantasy, and the October/November FPS Apoclypse happen I'm sure there will be more to talk about.

Right now gaming is perfectly a ok and that doesn't breed a lot of cool conversation.

Yeah, my most played games this year are Dark Souls 3 and Blood and Wine. Getting into Doom, but not much new strikes me this year. Deus Ex and Dishonored, I'll probably get. Otherwise, ehh.

Your only options is Sky and Cold Steel. The PSP Namco games are garbage and have no relation.

Yep.  Play Sky FC.  Just be warned it is slow.  Like you think you know slow?  Nope, this is slow.

But the payoff is worth it.  Also the writing and characters are great and the world is very well established and feels like a living breathing place.  Battle system is dated in Sky FC (gets better each game), but there's some good strategy for some of the main and optional boss fights.

Well, for me 2016 is a big gaming year since I'm playing Persona 5 in a month   
But I figure FFXV is big deal too and at least that'll be in English this year so everyone can play that & is a better example.

I'm in the same boat of playing older games and not touching anything new. Been doing another no kill run through Deus Ex Human Revolution on the hardest difficulty, playing through MGS2, might try getting through the second half of Tales of Vesperia.

This gen has no interesting gimmicks or dynamics.

There's not a lot of talk about Genesis games that aren't Sonic when it comes to a lot of the retro youtube sectors since a lot of them are born and bred Nintendo fans that grew up on that. Isn't much of an issue since a lot of them were NES kids first so I get it.

I really think you should dig into some of the Genesis library, Andy-kun. You might find a lot you like.

Cousin had a Genesis so I had some exposure but nothing really stuck out as much as LttP, Yoshi's Island, DKC2, Final Fantasy, etc.

Streets of Rage, Ristar, Dynamite Headdy and Toejam & Earl certainly looked cool enough but didn't really hold my interest as a kid.

Never got to try Phantasy Star, Golden Axe or Shinobi and I know those have huge amounts of fans. Will probably try them out some day.

Genesis had a lot of hardcore arcadey games. There is a gaf  thread about cool effects in 16 bit games and it lots of great looking games. Back then I thought the snes  was technical superior but it couldn't push big sprites like the Genesis could.

i think it tends to get overlooked now, but EA had a lot of great games on Genesis, and in my personal experience ppl preferred the genny versions of their multiplatform titles.
