Cuba and South Africa had quite a bit of intellectual exchange, like a bunch of cuban doctors operated here amongst other co-national endeavors so I get what Nelson was saying.

There's a shitstorm in the media here in Ireland because our president sent a letter of condolence to Cuba on behalf of the Irish people and they stand with the Cuban people in their time of grief. Castro was a massive supporter of Irish self determination and a united Ireland, had a memorial built to the IRA Hunger strikers and kept relations with a number of Irish political parties till formal relations with the government were established in 1999 (Including the old Labour party which the President was part of and Sinn Fein. Apparently he had a huge interest in Irish history as well). Most of the (British owned) media are hissing in anger that he would do such a thing because the president is just a mostly ceremonial role and the gatekeeper for all bills through parliament (The right wing controlled parliament just sent a perfunctionary condolence letter to the Cuban embassy and that was it). Lots of "how dare he express condolences for a mad tyrant" etc.

At the same time. Most people acknowledge he was a shit, but the president was right to send a classy letter because of the historical relations between Cuba and Ireland :yeshrug

Cuba and South Africa had quite a bit of intellectual exchange, like a bunch of cuban doctors operated here amongst other co-national endeavors so I get what Nelson was saying.
I was thinking more of their military intervention and flame stoking across the continent.

And apparently that's the context of Mandela's remarks, Cuban support for the Angolan Civil War:
Quote
The Cuban people hold a special place in the hearts of the people of Africa. The Cuban internationalists have made a contribution to African independence, freedom and justice unparalleled for its principled and selfless character - We in Africa are used to being victims of countries wanting to carve up our territory or subvert our sovereignty. It is unparalleled in African history to have another people rise to the defence of one of us - The defeat of the apartheid army was an inspiration to the struggling people in South Africa! Without the defeat of Cuito Cuanavale our organizations would not have been unbanned! The defeat of the racist army at Cuito Cuanavale has made it possible for me to be here today! Cuito Cuanavale was a milestone in the history of the struggle for southern African liberation!

Quote
From its earliest days the Cuban revolution "has been a source of inspiration for all freedom loving people", he went on. "We admire the sacrifices of the Cuban people in maintaining their independence and sovereignty in the face of a vicious imperialist orchestrated campaign organised to destroy the impressive gains made in the Cuban revolution."

The African people, Mandela noted, have become accustomed to being victims of other countries which "want to take over our territory or subvert our sovereignty. In the history of Africa", he asserted, "there is no other case of a people that has risen up in our defence."

Africans have been especially moved by the Cuban people's commitment to African liberation and to the systematic elimination of racism worldwide, Mandela said. "But the most important lesson that you have for us is that, no matter what the odds, no matter under what difficulties you had to struggle against, there can be no surrender. It's a case of freedom or death. I know that your country is experiencing many difficulties now, but we have confidence that the resiliency of [your people] will overcome these as they've have helped other countries overcome theirs."

"You are with us," he went on, "because both of our organisations, the Communist Party of Cuba and the ANC, are fighting for the oppressed masses, to ensure those who make the wealth enjoy its fruits ...

"We of the ANC will always stand with the poor ... and we will ensure sooner rather than later that they rule the land of their birth; that, in the words of the Freedom Charter, the people shall govern. And when that moment arrives, it will have been made possible not only by our own efforts, but also by the solidarity, support and encouragement of the great Cuban people."
Quote
When Mandela met with the international press following his July 26 speech, several members of the US press tried to pressure him to take a stand denouncing Cuba as a human rights violator.

When a reporter tried to hold the ANC leader accountable to Miami Cubans in this regard, he responded angrily. "Who are they to call for the observance of human rights by Cuba?", he demanded. "They kept quiet for 42 years when human rights were being attacked in South Africa. Who are they now to be so concerned about human rights?! They are not concerned with the violence in which 10,000 of our people have been killed in South Africa. Who are they to teach us about human rights?"

This desu senpai.

Also I'll believe a MvC4 is happening when I see it in stores. Capcom needed Sony to bankroll SF5. You honestly think they roped Disney and Marvel into doing a console exclusive on a formerly multi-platform IP? (Especially when MvC3 sold pretty damn well on 360, even outselling the PS3 IIRC?)
I don't know sales numbers, but I know that the PS3 version had extra lag baked in that the 360 version did not. Most stages are unplayable on PS3 due to hitching and stuttering.

I dunno about unplayable. MvC3 and UMvC3 were fine on PS3 for me. But I'm no EvoMLG360NoScope eSports. :yeshrug But I do know that factored into 360 sales.

Tourney-Pro-Bros. also cite issues on the 360 version...that's why they always play the game on the same 1-2 stages at tournaments as well.  If you're like the 99% of players who don't play professionally...it doesn't fucking matter.

Where is this console exclusivity stuff coming from?  Just because SFV was Sony-backed doesn't mean that Marvel would be too.  But my favorite part of the rumor is that the game is being developed by Iron Galaxy (who took over development on Killer Instinct) with Combo Fiend as the main game designer.  So a western fighting game from Capcom.  Could end up being a good thing or could end up being a major disaster.  Also could mean insanely-low budget game.

But that's exactly it, and why people are thinking it's exclusive. SFV could've been a non-exclusive, but it is (and MS is probably thanking their lucky stars they didn't buy into Capcom on that? :doge ) so that sets a precedent on Marvel possibly being similar.

Which, if it was would probably kill it just as bad as Street Fighter... unless Capcom learned their mistakes, but let's be honest: They probably haven't. :doge :doge

That's my major worry (along with Marvel 1-3 and the other vs games not coming to PC). Capcom has had finance issues for years now and had to have Sony bankroll SFV. The only reason it'd be made at this point is because Marvel and Disney know there are die-hard Vs. series fans that want it.

I've heard talk from sources I actually trust about a UMVC3 port for PS4 since around E3 time. I wouldn't be surprised if that's what this is and Capcom/Marvel are using it to test the waters for a real sequel ala HDR or Darkstalker Resurrection.

Also Bork, I made up that rumor about Iron Galaxy in the FG discord and asked someone to post it to see if it would gain traction and to mock Marvel fans afterwards. It stuck even better than I expected. Especially considering one of the other parts of the rumor was Akuma in DOA5 :lol

MS confirmed they were offered SF V after it was announced and didn't want to invest because it would have meant euthanising Killer Instinct early (And it would have been easy since they lost the original dev team) but decided to stick to their guns on it and hire a new dev team for KI. Which probably worked out for them because KI did really well for an AA and SF V, well. You know how that goes.

If Capcom decided to do the same thing as SF V again with MvC4 and also forgo PC because Marvel's afraid of Nude mods. Then basically lol again unless they cut the same sort of deal MS did for Dead Rising 4 (Timed console exclusivity and timed store exclusivity on PC). Especially since the current rumors about the game sound like it's an absolute trainwreck. 2v2 with assists. SFxT style gems, no X-Men characters because of Marvel licensing :doge

Quote
Ironically, I think this is why many Americans are unable to internalise just how bad changes can be.

Many people discuss how a 2 degree change in temperature would irreversibly fuck us over. To the average American, this is headscratch-worthy, since the difference between two degrees is barely sensible, in the Farenheit scale. Two degrees Celsius makes a lot of difference, say, from 28 to 30.
But since the US doesn't use Celsius (or Kelvin, since they're 1-1, they just start at different points) degrees - except in tech fields or sporadically in early school - they never get to understand the enormity of the changes.

One potential positive to a Marvel Vs. game not having mutants means a big roster shake-up.  More new characters is A-OK with me.  Still sucks though.

It's not like it would be unexpected.  If this game is really coming out, you can look to all the other Marvel games and see that they don't have X-Men characters.  The few that still do had some sort of contract deals that started before the whole Marvel/Fox mess.

Hopefully it's better than mvc3 :kobeyuck

While I enjoy watching TEH PROS play the game at a high level...honestly...

Those are other games tho. Storm in Mahvel is tradition. It's different for a fighting game. An MVC game without OPTIC BLAST OPTIC BLAST? Niccas will not let that die.

I don't even like watching pros play mvc3. I liked the game when it came out but as that release hype faded...

I still think we should have had Sega vs Capcom or something. Marvel without X men? Likelihood of no PC version? Too many variables that could cause trouble.

As good as CvS2 was, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for SvC Chaos. That weird-ass soundtrack, that redone Dhalsim sprite, the pre-fight talking scenes. And Goat Nutz is in it, which is always great. Loved SvC Chaos. I'd love another one. It was just weird, in a good way.

And of course Violent Ken

and hey, best part of MvC1 was that soundtrack

all of his themes should be around 1 star. They're awful.

Dunno why he made this "hmm, wonder why?" thread to advertise his shit and tell us what we already know - yes, gamers are generally anti-semitic fucks

Seriously- His themes are ugly as fuck.

But making a thread about negative reviews?  Really?

3 of the first 4 replies blame anti-semitism, Breitbart, and Trump's America for the low reviews. :neogaf

His themes are art school dropout grade trash. It's all so garish and unsophisticated, I'm shocked that anyone on neoGAF gives him a pass, especially when most of them whine about the tiniest of graphical glitches.

It's just ugly, I'm shocked people bought it to begin with.

Unless you just made this thread to generate pity sales.
