As good as CvS2 was, I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for SvC Chaos. That weird-ass soundtrack, that redone Dhalsim sprite, the pre-fight talking scenes. And Goat Nutz is in it, which is always great. Loved SvC Chaos. I'd love another one. It was just weird, in a good way.
And of course Violent Ken
So, funny thing about SvC. The game had a shitload of hype around it pre-release. People were even surprised that it was a NeoGeo game given the way that some of the characters animated. I knew a guy who was so hyped up for it that he sold almost all of his MVS games off and bought the board (SvC Chaos was not released as an MVS cart but was instead a dedicated board, because...

). A bunch of Atlanta FGC people including myself went over to his house to play it and 99% of the people who tried it thought it was straight garbage. The game pretty much 'bombed' in that the FGC absolutely hated it and thought it was a broken mess.
And it was. But the thing here is...
so was Marvel.

Like, people would say SvC was unbalanced and broken. And I would say the same thing about Marvel 2, but they'd defend
that game.
The game did get a sequel, BTW- NeoGeo Battle Colosseum is actually a direct follow-up to it, minus the Capcom characters, of course. It takes the same engine and adds a tag system while fixing most of the major issues that SvC had. It was a really awesome game. Still had balance issues, of course, but nothing horrible.
and hey, best part of MvC1 was that soundtrack
