Btw, let's not forget that treacherous Jinfash. He spends most of his time on gaf now and he didn't even get modded for it! :punch

I know he's been a mod.

He's been an admin for some time now.

How long was that?

Why was he fired?

We never really found out. Evilore gave an excuse that really didn't fill anyone in so it's just ":itisamystery"

Someone here had a running theory of him getting with a company that didn't want his GAF connections. But that makes no lick of sense to me.

I know he's been a mod.

I'm saying he's now an admin.

He's been an admin for some time now.

Is that how he got the NaNo bot implemented? I think he got that put up for the NaNoWriMo threads a year or two back but I dunno if Stump did it or he did and he just didn't have the admin title until now.

Maybe The fact that Bish, perhaps the most well known neogaf mod left, and several (if any?) mods didnt even show up in farewell thread is a hint that something serious went down.

Maybe they showed up later, i can't be arsed to check the threads, tbh

The dogpile on Oculus doesn't make sense to me. It's not like they knowingly hired a guy who was attracted to underage girls. This kind of thing can and does happen at other companies, and isn't a reflection on them. You just can't know this about people most of the time.
There's a pattern of disgusting behaviour from the company. They say the fish rots from the head and that is apt here.

Twenty-somethings having 16 or 17 year old partners is not only legal, it's completely normal in most/ all of Europe for example and not at all seen as immoral in those countries. Doesn't help that girls in countries where it's seen as normal are usually looking for older guys. You can call it whatever you want, but that makes you neither right nor morally superior.

It's done in the US, also. But it's usually kept on the down low. You're seen as a loser if you're a 21-23 year old dude still creeping on high school girls.

US youth culture seems vastly different from European culture(s). Age groups appear to be a lot more isolated in the US. In Germany at least, if you hit a bar, a club, a party or a gym, you'll naturally hang out with people from different age groups. Nobody has to "creep" on high school girls, high school girls (and boys) just naturally hang out in the same places and are part of the same cliques as older people.

I think part of the reason is the drinking age differences. When you're 19-20 in the US, you're getting fake ID's and hitting the bars, mingling with older people. Or crashing college keg parties.

In high school your choices are drinking at weekend house parties of classmates or going to (non-alcohol) dance clubs. Or drinking/partying in a park or backyard. Not many 16 or 17 year olds can pass for 21 and get into a college club/bar (even with a fake ID).

Yeah, that's certainly a huge part of it. I was mostly hanging out in bars and clubs with my buddies since I was 16 or 17. And we had 15, 16 year old girls with us who'd promptly go and flirt with older dudes for free drinks and potentially a boyfriend with disposable income and a driver's license (also a big deal). That was actually kinda depressing back in the day... :lol

"they keep voting outside their best interests" (<--- supposition of knowing what their best interests even are without having met or talked to them)

"you are underestimating how ingrained stupidity really is" (<--- assumes they're stupid because they work in coal or are poor or live in the country)

"why don't they vote in their own interests?"

Maybe it's because you call them stupid? The best about this election result is that it truly shows the disparity of morality between liberals (gaf) and other leftist philosophies and the more they throw a tantrum and shit on people the more they push people away (to the left).

:rejoice

If there's one thing that's true, it truly shows socialism/marxism as the more moral choice. :bow

Re: Safe-space hugbox thread

One of the problems I have with the resistance to empathy is that I think some people are misconstruing the suggestion as automatically being about having a kumbaya moment where both sides hug out their differences. Personally, I think it has just as much if not more to do with being pragmatic. You look at the result, try to figure out what the fuck happened and how to try and make sure it doesn't happen again. And unless you're sure demographics are going to swing your way regardless, it doesn't bode well for future chances if you assume that you lost because everyone who voted the other way is an irredeemable cartoon villain that can't be reasoned with.

I understand that whenever one votes for an elected official, you're never going to get 100% of what you want, and occasionally you'll have to deal with policies you're completely against.

But when it's something that your life literally depends on, making a gamble on that is something I have zero sympathy for.

It's also hard to argue that these folks were tricked or misled, as Trump's promise to repeal Obamacare was one of the few things he was actually consistent on.

In other words, fuck em.
