What's this shit where benji and others are just quoting regular political posts ad nauseum? Those posts are pretty good, but this is supposed to be a thread where we mock dumb posts.

Who cares what some people think of Trump when a dude dropped his phone in the toilet after also dropping a deuce?
This thread is in a PoliGAF is shit period because Trump winning broke something in people. Striking that iron while it's hot. Same dynamic you see in the media.

Sure, but at least stick to the good posts. Benji just quotes a lot of normal political ramblings as though they're somehow funny. Quality, not quantity.
That's just Benji being Benji. :doge

There's usually a theme to what he picks out, but nobody is expected to read all that shit or find it funny. You get used to it.  :ryker

Does anyone read everything linked and quoted from in here? This is like the mega shitbin thread, personally I prefer random garbage from GAF to "heh" about that some people like versus yet another debate about the moderators or the financial prospects of the site.

I don't really browse GAF so it's being linked to something, like up there Vom linked to a thread and I made some snarky comments off the posts, and before that Jansen did. I did go look for the Chelsea Manning thread because it was breaking news and that cognitive dissonance is funny to me. Especially since some of you and my PoliGAF friends have spent the last four years calling for her and Snowden's heads in a duffel bag dumped in the sea next to the fake Osama corpse.

If you want stuff funny to you, and this applies to me, you gotta get most of it on your own. This thread for like a year was filled with Devo crying, then she joined and it was about her ShadowMod antics and the dummies in those threads, recently we've got the Bore's War on Black People (Slayven, Enzom21, BobbyRoberts, Lime, etc.) and Gamergaters like Let's Cyber, Himu, Stufe and so on raging against the left for calling racists racist. (And I'm sure my posting probably doesn't discourage that type of poster taking up residence in here which is why I would apologize to seagram, Wrath and others.)

When I do take a gander, I often do link to goofy non-political stuff. But it doesn't seem like there's as much as it anymore or it's buried way down. Twenty comic movie threads endlessly debating the same points, twenty spoiler-tag filled TV show threads, another fifty Trump threads, twenty five threads about the cause/disaster of the moment (stay safe, this is a forum too), another fifteen threads that combine all these into one. Even if I want to look for a dumb TRUMP thread to be facetious in I sometimes have to wade all the way down to page five. Plus the mods have increasingly shut down all the juicy "how do I life?" threads out of fear they're fake. I just had to dig down to the sixth page to find that "weird encounter on the bus" thread AND the poop phone thread. They're the only ones on there not about a news story, Trump or a piece of media.

The thread that most sticks out to me as having funny responses is one I'm NOT going to link or quote to because it's about worst Presidents even if it has gems like:
Quote
Yeah, it's evident that the Civil War has just been a Cold War for the last 150 years since Johnson and Co botched Reconstruction.
Quote
I'd argue sic semper tyrannis is the first dog whistle (and the most famous).

But I can't complain about ya Jack, you've moved out into the rest of the forum rather successfully. :yeshrug

Though your insults are getting weak. Next thing you know you'll wind up "liking" my posts.

Plus, like, I'm banned, waiting to be unbanned shortly on a very specific day at a very specific time for a very specific reason. So I'm probably filling this up with garbage more than normal since I'd totally say the same horseshit as responses instead on GAF.

Once I get that deserved perma this weekend I'll probably go back to not tut tutting about GAF helplessly here.

Also, demi told me to get a job. This isn't like GAF, you can't disobey the staff.

I agree with that but I'm fine if they add it to the eShop sometime soon. Netflix wasn't ready for Wii U's launch either. I won't install it cause Chromecast da gawd but I have no problem with it being buried somewhere inside the store.

Browser I'm a bit more strict on... Even aside from the piracy aspect, if a browser isn't constantly updated it rustles my jimmies as a web developer. Unless this thing gets an official version of Chrome or Firefox I'm fine with sidelining that aspect completely.

How to deal with Alt+Right employees?

Quote
So I just got into a conversation with two of my employees that are trump supporters and while I have an issue with that it's not what bother me the most. When racism was brought up I mentioned that trump never disavowed the KKK and talked about the negativity it brings, they went straight to how "at least he doesn't condone and encourage the killing of cops."

Quote from: so many people
You ever heard the song Fighting Fire with Firing?
Fire them.
Fire them Then point out that you can do so thanks to people like Trump.
At my work we fire them. Don't need bigots in healthcare.
Since the topic title is about the alt-right I think literal neo nazis are an okay group to fire.
Fire them once they slip up.
Fire them. Use some other reason to fire them
Don't fire them but write their names down and they never get promoted.
Wait until Trump repeals Obamacare, Medicaid expansion and social welfare programs. Fire them. Find a reason. Call them a few months later and ask them how it's going.
1st step: don't use their cute branding "alt-right", call them what they are: NEO NAZIS. This will make the 2nd step easier: fire them.
If they work with general public. Fire them
There's no place for racism, anywhere. Fire them.
You could fire them. Use Trump's catch phrase. Then laugh. Then fire them
I would find another low risk way to fire them or just remember this incident come raise or promotion time.
if you live in a right-to-work state you could very well fire them if you have that authority.
Alt-Right is just code for being racist. You should straight up fire them / have them fired.
you can fire them. Look up right to work states.

Like Stro said the other day, this is a forum where people dig through their own shit to retrieve a phone and then use it later, they don't know how postage works, and they post threads about the smallest social interaction and lack the self-awareness to realize this is awkward, and then mention they're well-adjusted and not weird at all. Like, okay pal. You sound well adjusted, after reading your OP on a kideo game message board about how you aren't awkward and had a girl interact with you.

That linked blog post :mindblown :neogaf

Quote
At the time, Jordan Zakarin of Buzzfeed tracked down a disaster expert to estimate the damage to Metrolpolis (two trillion dollars is estimated, 129,000 dead), in an article that got quite a bit of reach and republishing links for the outlet: The Insane Destruction That The Final “Man Of Steel” Battle Would Do To NYC, By The Numbers. Sadly this article and its republished versions all fail to make the distinction between the damage done to Metropolis by the world-engine while Superman was away (working as part of a plan to take out the two-pronged attack), and in the final battle with Zod.

Quote
Suicide By Superman

This is an important distinction for one reason: the phenomenon is one also faced by real, human police officers. In recent times, many police departments have publicly been called out for questionable practices and controversial public incidents involving use of deadly force. But the phenomenon I'm discussing, "Suicide by Cop," is a very real one at the furthest end of the spectrum from questionable or inappropriate response.  Specifically, the phenomenon refers to a perpetrator who wants to die, but for whatever reason will not end their own life. By taking advantage of police training and scripted response in use of deadly force, the person trying to commit "Suicide by Cop"will then threaten a cop or hostage to incite a fatal gunshot wound.

The judgment against Superman and his "hero failure," which we in fact have seen to be very much a liability in a legitimately dangerous Suicide by Cop situation, mixes seemlessly with anger at the writers for concocting a scenario for the character that "only works if he were real." I thought that was the point, and the benefit, of a live action adaptation in the first place. What's worse, judging Superman's action under the weight of comic-fan story expectations sends an unfair message to the law enforcement officers forced to take a life in the line of duty.

Do heroes kill? In the end, that becomes a very personal question, it seems, one on which there is not a lot of consensus. If you rule it out completely, you rule out heroism in police officers, in soliders... roles we hope to revere and look up to, if we feel they are being applied fairly, rightly.

The film that was released ironically disturbed some cinema purists even as it improved on their complaints about the previous films.

You mean they found it shit ?

Nice editorial today about all the pseudo-rumor news and its effects:

From the "editorial" :

There’s a worrisome and ongoing issue related to the development of the DCEU and the way the media keeps taking every little shot it can to undermine it. This is not paranoia or one person just seeing things, this is something you can easily find online.

It has become a trend to make fun, to criticize, to take apart every quote and to make negatives headlines about any of the DCEU whenever possible. I don’t believe that conspiracy theory that says that Disney actually pays off journalists to make positive comments about their movies while making negative ones against the DC films, even if they have enough money to actually do that. What I do believe is that it’s just easier and more profitable to lean on the negative aspects of whatever is popular.

For the so-called movie journalists both Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad were considered failures, even when those movies made tons of money, sold many Blu-ray and DVDs copies and have kept people talking about them months after their releases discussing their positives and negatives. Failures don’t do that. You can’t deny that for example Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Will Smith and Margot Robbie definitely owned their roles and people definitely want to see more of them.
