Nothing wrong with that I guess.
Don't you dare suggest videogames might have an influence on players tho.
These idiots don't even know what the Fairness Doctrine did and how it'd be literally impossible to enforce today.
For the most part it wasn't enforced against "national issues" but local ones like you have a guy opposed to a sewer line on and you have to bring in Mary who wants it. It was actually rarely enforced because programs had wide latitude in what exactly would trigger it and most programs wanted the natural conflict of "both sides" fighting anyway.
The FCC also wanted to repeal it well before Reagan and the Republicans because they considered it faulty at the core, "balanced views" were too much of a waste of time to enforce and it was being used mostly for personal spats. Broadcasting a news story on say some court ruling or legislation passed, would trigger an opposing group demanding a response, which would trigger the opposite, so broadcasters simply dropped the stories on stuff like abortion or civil rights so they didn't have to bring on a segregationist or waste air time. Not to mention the absurdity of the idea that you can properly represent "all views" without descending into chaos.
Reagan was actually told by his staffers not to support repealing it because the LIEBERAL MEDIA would shift to spending all its time undermining him and they wouldn't be able to threaten them. He told them to fuck off because the First Amendment was more important.

Also, it's amazing to see people still citing the Powell Memo as some secret and sinister underground plot. Dude was a well known
corporate lawyer asked by his friend and neighbor to write up something for the Chamber of Commerce on how they might compete with growing progressive activist groups using the courts.
