Being a local print movie reviewer is such a low end thing to get egotistical about. He's mad at youtube criticism as if his job had any qualifications other than going to a movie. There's a sparse few film critics worth caring about and everything else is needy, formulaic, and full of terrible puns.

Actually, looking at that Shaun Kingening of Bobby, I don't think its the authenticity he craves. If Robert Roberts is so upset about youtube bloggers being shitty, why doesn't he just start his own youtube movie reviews? I'm pretty sure his local free paper doesn't have an exclusivity clause in his contract. Or a contract at all. They probably don't even know he writes for them.

He can make videos, then response videos where he argues with people in the comments that agreed with him.

It's just easier to complain about them instead of engaging with them. Just vocally dismiss them and move on. Of course moving on for him means coming back and still being dismissive.

Can't tell if he's saying this about RLM directly or if he thinks it's just a byprodct. If the former, he's wrong as RLM has sooooo many things they love. Heck, their most popular show is about finding the best aspects of terrible B movies!

And the Plinkett reviews are about as analysis-y as can be.

Bobby, being the very serious sycophant that he is, believes in his heart of hearts all this message board posting about Star Wars is all very important. He feels he's earned something for all this effort. Unfortunately for him, he's gotten very little recognition for all this "work" and hasn't even landed the deeply coveted NeoGAF virtual janitor position he's been gunning for.  In his mind, he's essentially getting no credit for his deep understanding of Star Wars.

Now imagine being Bobby, the humorless self-satisfied person he is.  Put yourself in his position of being the message board equivalent of a self appointed crossing guard no one wanted or asked for be keeps showing up anyway. Imagine how he feels when he sees all the views and recognition RLM gets for their Star Wars videos. How they're seen as an authority on Star Wars while not taking it seriously.  Imagine seeing the Plinkett criticism brought up in every NeoGAF thread about the prequels. Imagine how he feels when this stupid Plinkett character gets so much e-cred while Bobby gets almost none.

RLM doesn't take Star Wars seriously.  They make jokes and poke fun of the movies, the fanbase and even Lucas himself.  RLM is popular and beloved.  This is the antithesis of everything Bobby Bartholomew Roberts stands for.  "Star Wars should be treated with dignity and respect" Bobby thought to himself. "These films are serious business, dammit".

Rogue One is extremely formulaic if taken as a war movie (and not even a good one), as a Star Wars film is a mess bigger than the prequels in some aspects and its attempts of moral ambiguity is laughable most of time (it ends making look the empire better for half of the film). It truly feels more like a film made by a corporate committee even  when attempts to be 'risky'.

I was surprised, in a good way, when RLM shitted on it as they strangely apologist with TFA (thought Mike seems to starting to realize that the film has a lot of faults) so I suspect they don't go to watch the Nu-Star Wars films expecting to be shit or shit talk them afterwards. Their interest in Films feel genuine than the corporate hipster ball washer that seems to think that Rogue One ending is some sort "brave" attempt to break formulas.

I was laughing my ass off out of the theater. I don't blame them for trying but for thinking they earned that ending. The formula usually exists for a reason.

Friday, a classic film, is 77% fresh with critics, 91% with audiences.

Bebe's Kids is 25% fresh! Granted, it's not a masterpiece or anything, but it's not a 25% movie. Audiences have it at 74% where it is properly rated!

Other hood classics:

Critics numbers on the left, audiences on the right.

I will consider a white persons opinion on black movies as far as I can throw em!

To wit, compare the audience score to the tomatometer on many of these. The Wood is certified 61 fresh by critics. It is at 91 (!!!) among audiences. This should tell you all you need to know. White critics only like a certain of black movie, and stuff like Precious and Antwone Fisher or Boyz In Da Hood which depicts black people in a certain kinda way. But if you do something like The Wood which depicts black people as normal people with nothing to criticize about the black "condition" then they don't get it.

Comedies are a poor barometer of critical reception. They always score lower than dramas and historical pics. Humor is very subjective and has a shelf life.
