I use Reddit more than GAF these days because it's more focused on the original post than the comments below it. And also because the worthless shitposts tend to get buried instead of taking up the entire first page or two. And then there's also subscriptions, which let you filter out topics you don't care about like cinematic universes and shit.

I feel like it's the complete opposite - the one-liner Twitter comedian shitposts get upvoted to the top, to the point where the first post you read in every thread is by Rodney Dangerfield.

I should clarify, I'm pro-shitposting. I prefer Reddit's style over NeoGAF because the (arguably) good shitposts are voted to the top and the rest can be ignored. On GAF you have no choice but to scroll past every single attempt at being snarky or funny until you find the 1 out of 50 that actually hits the mark.

Ah - agreed

And then you collapse it and every response to it away with a single click, instead of having to waste brain cycles scanning for the worthwhile bits the way you have to with a linear format.

Also, this.

One of the most irritating things about reading NeoGAF is when a poster makes an especially funny or controversial comment and it gets quoted literally dozens of times with low content responses.  On Reddit you don't have to read any of that shit! The posters who have nothing to add, but still want to be part of the discussion can be ignored. It's nice.  :)

How is it "reap what you sow" when it's their family members, who are completely innocent, that are being punished?

I just had a great laugh. That's an excellent way to start the morning.

The big downside to Reddit's style is when you come late to a post, you don't feel like you're in the conversation because your comment is buried at the bottom where no one can see it.

In the fascist future, people will clamor around the last unmonitored GNU/Linux computers which house the remnants of the Free Internet and piece together what's left of the website neoGAF.com, and there we will look where Gutek tried to preemptively shame us for the state of the future.

There's also the slight issue that this strike has no large union(s) attached to it yet ? Spontaneous actions can be powerful too but you can't really fault people for not sticking out their neck on a whim just because some dude on a videogame forum said so.

If you are a capitalist who profits off of other people's labor time, then my recommendation is that you stop doing that and cede control over your workplace to the workers themselves on a democratic basis.

Garth Brooks is a legitimately great guy. I used to deliver pizza more than a decade ago and he would come by and buy ice cream for all 20 or so employees when he picked up his pizza. I even accidentally knocked him on his ass once (I'm a pretty tall guy) on accident, rushing out the door, and he was super nice to me even though that shit was ridiculous. Great guy and incredibly kind and gracious to people he talked to.

He's got a heck of a musical legacy, but it's weird, it seems like most people never pay attention to him. Even in country circles, he's not really as discussed as he ought to be, considering how much he's put out.

Not sure if true or not, but still liked for a feel good story all the same.

He was BIG in the 90's, dropped off to raise  his kids and hasn't really had the same "superstar"-dom since.

I feel like this is a strike about 1-2 years too early.

To really be effective you would want to get a bunch of the people that will all but guaranteed to be disillusioned by Trump in a couple years when his rhetoric doesn't match the reality....I'm looking at you Appalachia coal mines and Michigan factory workers.

Too many working class people are in the "wait and see" approach on Trump and jobs right now IMO. Gotta strike when the irons hot and I don't think its warmed up at all yet. Better to focus on the Woman's march, Immigration and Science right now. Maybe start building toward a healthcare march given there seems to be a decent bit of growing disillusionment, even in red states, about the path Republicans are going with the ACA. Or build this around the sanctuary city issue to at least create more topical support.

....Could be wrong on this. Probably am in some capacity.

Unskew the polls! Unskew the polls!!!

I have to imagine most of the poli-gaffers are at most in their early 20's.

The lack of perspective and the sense of disappointment from not getting instant gratification swimming through that thread reeks of Millennials that have only been politically tuned in for at best the Obama administration.

I see the polls and you know what I see? A president with historically bad approval ratings in his first week and barely able to tread water on his populist agenda. With tons of landmines being set up for down the road. And how the public feels in January 2018 is a fuck ton more important then how they feel in January 2017.

I am definitely buying another dock (I have two TV's where I game and want a dock for each). I also am definitely going to buy more joycons. Considering how pricey the accessories are, does it make sense to just buy another Switch for $300 instead of buying a separate dock and joycon (I also would get a non-charging joycon grip). A dock, joycon grip and set of joycons would run me $185. So I'd essentially get an extra main unit for $115 (which I could just have as a backup).

If I remember right, he's married to Trisha Yearwood, who continued with her career?

also doesn't a strike involve....striking? or protesting? it's not taking a sick day to stay home and play video games.

There's also the slight issue that this strike has no large union(s) attached to it yet ? Spontaneous actions can be powerful too but you can't really fault people for not sticking out their neck on a whim just because some dude on a videogame forum said so.
hypothesis: they don't know what a strike actually is...or a union for that matter

i did a seance to contact Maggie just in case but she just laughed at me and said she couldn't wait to tell Lenin
