It's like every thread about someone goes through this very mechanical process of scanning their history to see if they are "GOOD PERSON" or "BAD PERSON". If the background check hits on something, a switch is flipped in their head, and the thread becomes entirely about the throwaway comment some some actor said five years ago, not the movie or show they have been cast in. At some point, it ceases to be a human conversation, it's more like running a programming script.

Ugh, I respected Rogan before he became alt-right

Joe Rogan isn't alt-right, though he's not a regressive either. But we all know how GAF feels about anyone right of their brand of insanity.

Do you really want to fucking challenge me on this?

I am on mobile so it's a pain in the ass to try to bring receipts, but at around 3:30 EST I will be back on my laptop I will be providing receipts to my claims.  I wish I was mod so I could require that the only people allowed to discuss what democrats NeoGAF needs are posters who have a history of being politically active in campaigns agreeing with my viewpoints.

I spent 550 hours campaigning for Democrats in NH last year browsing the bore while only in my underwear.

When I call someone scum I have justification for it. You know who I am. You know that as soon as I get back to my computer can have a shitload of receipts.  SO WATCH YOUR BACK.

Anyone who doesn't punch Milo in the face is alt-right.

I think I will go and listen to Rogan's episodes with Milo.  I've never heard him say anything aside from "I"m gonna say a bad word!  Get ready world."

He seems like such a foundationless geek show who thrives on people who like to hear him say bad words and those who get offended by it.  He's a 6-year-old at a church picnic who says "shit" and "pee-pee."  The revultion from the parents and the kids who chuckle is what makes him a star.

Time to see if that lamb chop, olive picking, wog actually has a ethos worth getting mad at.

'Lore and his team tried to incorporate https into GAF a couple years back and it was a disaster. Given the general incompetence/laziness of him and his staff, you'd be taking a huge gamble giving him access to your financial information.

You just use a credit card gateway of some kind. 'Lore wouldn't ever get the full CC details (and thus doesn't need to be crazy PCI compliant). You still get enough info that could be used for malicious social engineering, mind you.

But I have complete faith he'll fuck this up royally, in basically every conceivable way.

They tried even more recently. It worked just fine as far as I could tell, but then apparently there were issues so they had to rollback, which was weird.

The problem with GAF Gold won't be collecting payments, although that does have potential to go sideways as well. The problem is that no one is going to buy it, if all you get to do is donate money to EviLore. Most places offer a "premium" experience, like early access to videos, the ability to customize and style your account (or others, SA style), and other incentives to go with an ad-free experience. Sure, a handful of people have expressed interest (without knowing the price). No one is clamoring for it, because it already exists (uBlock Origin).

What's baffling, though, is how no one seems to see through the facade that is the current mobile advertising scheme. That being, let every shit ad through while doing nothing about it to sweeten up that GAF Gold experience Q1ish. Either nobody sees it, or, more likely, nobody cares, because they're already ad blocking.

My guess is that the new system will be responsive and the current mobile GAF will be put out to pasture, and it will have aggressive advertising (and more of it).

The lazy option would be to set up a patreon, i could see a couple thousand people giving money and it requires minimal effort. But I guess Lore see things bigger. Maybe they hope to convert 10k out of the userbase of 178k ? That would be more stable revenue. But yeah except the "privilege" of not having malware, I struggle to see the added value. I don't think he can reasonably put the Gaming behind a pay wall.

Also he will have to devise a real moderation policy not to alienate customers and still remain fair to free ones. Otherwise paying members will shit everything up even further. So no more permas and changing usernames for the lulz.

Looking back, that's one of the most racist things ever put in a videogame. This looks like the warm up to a 1950s lynching. All they had to do was add a few more black people throughout the crowd but that would have been going against the code, apparently

Sad that I can't say Japanese devs have gotten any better in the last 26 years when it comes to that.

It has nothing to do with him liking comics and more about being a insecure jerkass that needs to impose his opinions about anything, being as trivial as being a fanboy for a comic company to serious and sensitive discussions about race but with the tact of a burning cactus.

Jaffe game is about teenage edgelord doddles fighting to death so dunno if he will agree with the sentiment about "hurhur he is a loser because he reads comics".

GAF Gold should come with perm-immunity for anything except porn or straight up hate speech (which would be delineated in the TOS and not left open to interpretation), and a 3 day ban limit for everything else.
Pretty much. Charging money should change the nature of the site.

But I assume Lore will want to have his cake and eat it too, however.  Moderation will stay the same, as will bans. And it will be a shitshow.
