To be clear, I have a black friend. Or had one.
His name was Ivan and he was the sautee cook. One aspect of the restaurant was that we would recite movie lines all the damn time. It was mostly Will Ferrell movies and I would go out of my way to rent these movies so I could participate with my co-workers and crew. I thought of it as at home home-work for the job.
One of Ivan's favorite movies to quote was Pulp Fiction. One day we got into a back and forth as Jules and Vincent and I've got a line coming up that features the N-word. Had I not said it Ivan would have walked around to every other cook and told them how I was such a little bitch I couldn't even say nicca. I went along, said the the word and +1 friendship point achieved.
It then became a routine thing. He would complain about work or about his situation with Pulp Fiction lines and I would play the partner. For maybe two years I said the word nicca on the reg. Once Ivan left with his GF so she could get a graduate degree I stopped using that word.
But the argument on gaf is "Why do you want to use the word?" Fuck off. I don't "want" to use the word. Sometimes you just do so you can be a human being who understands context, situations, and people.
But fuck that, just say no. "Hill to die on," and "Why you want to say that , tho?"
