The era is forums is kinda over.
The new generation of gamers prefers direct contact with industry people or famous personalities by using Twitch, youtube or twitter. Even youtube seems to be on its way out, with all those adverts problems.
Forums feel slow now. Neogaf is always behind now because all the insiders have left. Posters are now simply reposting stuff breaking on twitter. So why would you care? Just get your info straight from the source.
Also it's not worth investing time on NeoGaf anymore because 1) it's increasingly irrelevant for news, gaming discussions and especially for actual gaming discussion. All the talented or knowledgeable folk has left, or got banned over time.
For a community that prides itself on mature, open minded discussions for intelligent posters , well it certainly seem to attract a lot of people who turned out or were classified as being undesirable with the non-stop banning.
How is it normal that archived threads are full of grayed banned posters? I have never seen a forum with such a bodycount. How is that normal? I could understand all the juniors getting permed for shit posting or being low quality posters, but how do you explain so many banned long-time members?
We're talking about users with accounts dating back 5,10,15 years. How is it possible? Are we suposed to believe that all of those users went suddenly rogue? Or maybe something happened in the moderation policies?
Is it worth investing time in a forum where you can get suddenly banned? No, it is not.
That's why people moved to twitter and twitch.
Oldschool gaffers could name tons of posters who knew their shit who got chased out or banned after years of contributing quality content.
Such a bodycount is not normal. There is a problem with moderation and also the general vibe of the forum
