It's kind of hilarious, because it assumes Nintendo, or any other company, is so incompetent that they don't do any post launch research on why a product succeeded or failed. If for some reason there is a massive boycott of the Metroid remake(there won't be), Nintendo would know exactly what happened.

Maybe I'm just jaded, but I'll never understand paying for something because of potential.

Switch is a cool little device, but so far it's best games are available elsewhere(which won't change till Mario in October, and that's one game). I mean you'd think that going in these people would have accepted that they'll get Nintendo games and little else. That isn't a bad thing, especially if you're smart enough to not make it your lone piece of hardware because of idiotic brand loyalty.

Aside from "What if the Nazis won WWII?" this is easily the most common alternate history premise there is. While I do question how well it will be handled, I'd rather wait for the final product to succeed or fail based on its own merits rather than see it condemned by social media like two year before it's given a chance.
