Love Mass of the Fermenting Dregs. They dropped a new single  in 2020 (it was alright) so I'm hoping that maybe a new album will come this year. And I'd love for them to tour outside of Japan if Covid gets out of the way.

They released a performance of Delusionalism from a December show. That goes back to their first release

Sometimes I just need my ears to be assaulted.

On a side note. For a band that has a reputation that is probably larger than their music, it's kind of hard to find their stuff online. Not very streaming friendly.

Going to my first gig in more than 12 months tomorrow.

Gonna see these guys and a few other local bands.

I used to go to metal gigs regularly when I was in my 20s, but I haven't done much of that in the last 10 or so years.

Jealous. Quickly coming up on a full year since I've seen a live gig (mid February). A simple sign of how some countries managed or are managing the pandemic.

Was a bit touch and go there for a few days. We had a case of the UK COVID variant break out of hotel quarantine and went into a three day lockdown. That seems to have resolved itself and we are back to no community transmission. Still, the gig is still going ahead with reduced capacity and other restrictions. I think it's seated only, which is going to be weird in a bar.

Didn't realise how much I missed live music. Great show and if you ever get the chance to see Lagerstein, don't miss them.

Weezer - OK Human

It's ok. Hyuumaaaahn.

Strings all over the place. Half of the tracks I'd keep. Nothing to write home about.

The Armed have been sending around USB sticks and tapes that led to cult websites and discord channels were someone pretending to be Gerard Butler read up from the book of the book of Daniel, and has made people do stuff (for example, he wants everyone to say refract before he starts a new speech, and that can take some time with a few hundred people in there). I was lucky enough to also get mail from them, claiming to be Kanye West. There's also two hotlines to them in the tape, that you can call and have the strangest conversations on.

Overall sensational lockdown fun.

Anyway after solving weird puzzles and ciphers, people managed to put this together from the stuff they received. First song of their new album it seems. Very different, but absolutely great.

Fuck me, so excited for this new album. The track on cyberpunk kicked ass too

So, if you like metal, then when Jim Mutilator and Magus Wampyr Daoloth decide to form a band, you listen.

Two absolute legends from the Greek metal scene and this album is amazing.

Pretty much devoured Ethernity by For Tracy Hyde at this point. Gonna put it aside before I overplay it to the point where I can't listen to it anymore for the next 6 months.

Yeah, it's a great little venue. It's called Lefty's Old Time Music Hall. Lots of wood, leather, taxidermy and vintage fixtures. Their thing is rockabilly, blues, and underground stuff.

Rufus Wainwright's Want One. It was made before the drugs kicked in and he started doing horrifying Judy Garland impressions. There's a couple of duds but it's probably his best album. I don't think he ever topped 14th street or 11.11.

Been back on an AJJ (Andrew Jackson Jihad) kick. The first time I got into AJJ I had to stop because the extreme nihilism of his early stuff was fucking with my mindset and making me depressed.

He's basically Weird Al but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay darker. His stuff is 90% a joke and 10% incredibly nihilistically depressing. I hadn't heard his newest album from last year until today and it's pretty great though very much a period of its political time.

I always liked his first track on his first album, kinda defines AJJ for me. The "HOLY FUCK YOU ARE BLEEDING THERE" line gets me every time  :lol
His first album is sooo nihilistic.

Hmm, youtubing around stumbled across this cover. This song gets pretty good midway and this is a neat alternate take on the vocals:

New Maiden song. Can't accuse them of standing still.

Going to need a few more listens, but I like it so far.

Yeah I like AJJ too. I also had that weird experience where it made me kind of depressed and I had to take a break from it. Some of that shit hits too close to home.

Sometimes though it's so bleak all I can do is laugh and it's really cathartic. Like mega guillotine
