Ran across the band Hop Along the other day. Really jives with the kind of grunge pop I grew up liking on Sega Saturn mix cds.

The way she nails the "Meteor...make me young" lines at the end is so good. There's a couple other great tracks on this album too. Been listening to it for a couple days now.

I think Courtney Love is really underrated. She was a talented artist on her own accord but everyone always compared her to Kurt. What really kills me though is all the stuff that was accused of her after Kurt died. Just some of the nastiest sexism I've ever seen. This album is great, really stand out riot grrrl record and catchy, too. One thing I've always noticed about the grunge of this time vs. the girl band stuff was that the girl band stuff was extremely empowering, energetic, and guiltless, while a lot of the grunge was just bitter, introspective, and agonizing.

Just got back from seeing a special Bandits of the Acoustic Revolution show where they had a 40 piece full orchestra and pianist playing this in an old 1920s LA theater:
