It looks likely it has a shockingly low amount of handholding for a modern Nintendo/Zelda game. You're probably good there. I just want to know if it's as boring as 90% of sandbox games are. Trailers and previews are promising, though.

And if Zelda sells out you can always just buy it digitally like I'm doing. :)

Bore is hype for the Switch while Neogaf is seemingly calling Nintendo out for their foolishness

Truly a contrarian message board  :neogaf

Huh? There's more haters than not. Rahx, Creepy Old Guy, bork, Dufus, seagrams, Huff, Esch, Lager, morma, etc.

Only me, Himu, 213372bu and maybe nacho are actually excited.

Won't lie, I skimmed  :yeshrug

So this popped up at the end of an Ultra Street Fighter II trailer:

:lol How insane would it be if they added full CG cutscenes to a Street Fighter II port?

Imma guess it's a first-person mini-game using waggle for attacks.

Just note that Zelda is going to be around 17GB and we have no idea how slow games will be to download.  Speaking of which, if you go all-digital, I guess you're gonna need multiple SD cards since that 32GB of memory the Switch have isn't going to be enough and a larger SD card could fill up quick.

Zelda was confirmed to be 13.4 GB on Switch (13 GB even on Wii U.)

Also a 128 GB card is $37 and should be fine for at least a year or two, even assuming you buy a ton of Switch games.

money is tight now, and I have to prep for my move and classes so buying a switch would be a bad idea for now. I'll have to wait for when mario comes out it seems. Oh well, plenty on the 3ds to hold me over until then.

You'll be able to use a hori stick on Switch, but not the one you already have. Though I'm sure Brook will make a converter.
As far as the game itself...eh  :yeshrug It seems okay, but definitely not $40 worthy

Definitely not, but it will be ported. And no more Fightcade! :rejoice Though I like FC, it's really the only place to play ST online anymore unless you're willing to take out the ps3 and 360 for HDR.

Well this game isn't ST. Neither is HDR, even in Classic mode. I'm still crossing my fingers for a real "ST Mode" but unless that happens, Fightcade/FBA local/Arcade is still gonna be the way to go for me.

I dunno how your FGC is set up but we have a couple folks that can't make it to our main local night so one of them hosts his own thing once every couple weeks and it gets pretty good attendance. If your scene organizes on an FB or forum might be worth tossing it out there and make your own mini-gathering.

Granted your city is a lot bigger than Albuquerque so it may not work out the same way but it might be worth a shot. There's only like 15 regulars in our scene here so its easier to set that up :lol

I finally dumped my Wii U and put in a preorder for the Switch like the God damned mark I am

The $75 bonus was too good. I bought this thing for like $200 and it traded in for $195 + I traded in all of the games that are probably getting Switch ports (Mario Kart, Smash). If I end up selling the rest of my Wii U games I might not end up doing too bad

Nintendo has confirmed that Mario Kart 8 Deluxe will also include a handful of other battle arenas: Luigi’s Mansion (Mario Kart: Double Dash), Battle Course 1 (Super Mario Kart) and the new Battle Stadium.

X   $300 when the much more powerful competitor consoles can regularly be purchased for $250

X   paid online services when people are already paying for 1-2 other online services

X   2.5 to 6 hour battery life (this is code language for "average of 3 hour battery life") when modern tablets and phones run all day

X   gratuitous accessories which will no doubt be vastly overpriced

Looks like Ninty's making all the right moves!

To be fair those devices are usually in sleep mode and even when in use, usually not playing graphically-intensive games. There's no way a phone could run Breath of the Wild for 3 hours straight without dying or catching on fire.

Pokemon GO used to heat my phone up like a mofo before I got my Pixel.

Yes, but you can do many things on a phone or tablet. Less than 3 hours uptime is bad news for a dedicated portable games machine, fair or not. I'm honestly shocked they even owned up to it.

They owned up to the same amount of battery life for the 3DS back in the day, and it was a far bigger shock back then. Today, less so.

Let's also not forget the Wii U GamePad routinely gets less than 2 hours and it's basically just a shitty sub-480p resistive screen.

That is one potential benefit. I was hoping they'd release a USB Type-C version that uses USB power delivery so it only has to use one cord, though. But you're right. There's two big Type-A ports on the front(-side) of the dock, and they were probably put there just so they could reuse the GC adapter.

Smash 5 at Evo 2018 should be fantastic. :rock

At the very least this may actually force me to finish the game instead of leaving it in my backlog forever.

This, ultimately, is why I don't respect you. Like, at all.

This is undeniably a shitty feature when compared to what their competitors offer. But instead of actually ADMITTING it, you just try your stupid best to spin it. A fanthing until the end, incapable of critical thought when it comes to his darlings. Your opinion is and always will be shit until you realize this and do something about it.

As for the Switch... it's gonna suck. But it's the only place to get Nintendo games, and I do like their games when they put the effort in. The new Zelda and Mario titles look good.

Also, I'm with Sho Nuff- this thing is not going to be embraced as a portable outside of Japan, if there at all.

I don't give a shit tbh. I'm not a game journalist and I have no pretension of objectivity. I like what I like. Free games are great. Time limits suck. The feature as announced will remain so no matter what I say, so I'll give my opinion of how I'll use it.

Did I say "This is how everyone should be looking at it!"? No. I gave my own opinion.

If I actually cared about being seen as a mature, joyless, taste-making gamer with well-thought out and nonpartisan opinions (as I'm sure you see yourself) I sure as fuck wouldn't be posting here. :lol

So everyone keeps telling me "ALL internal Nintendo devs are consolidating work onto Switch" but to me that sounds insane. They own the market for VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTIBLE TOYS FOR CHILDREN WITH GOOD BATTERY LIFE AND FANTASTIC CHILDREN'S GAMES priced at $99-$150.  The Switch is not that and unless it gets a mega hardware refresh where it's smooshed down into a clamshell....no, just no. I still see Switch <> handheld for a long long time, and I doubt there will be a unified platform for Nintendo  :miyamoto

Agreed.  People are going to see it as a successor to the Wii U, not 3DS.  The Switch is going to do Wii U like numbers and then we'll see the announcement of a 3DS successor.  That or they're just going to start releasing more mobile games.
