Binding of Isaac doesn't have a CD, but other than that it's a pretty nice package. The instruction manual is styled after the original Legend of Zelda.

Also, it's funny that after over 5 years, Isaac finally got a physical release and it's exclusively on a Nintendo console. :lol

Super Meat Boy was originally going to headline the Wii's digital game service until they realized Nintendo wouldn't budge on the 40 MB limit.

Did yours come with anything besides the manual?  Apparently there's a "day one" version that has some extra stuff like stickers or whatever.  I found a copy of that version for sale, and it was a bit pricier, but it's from Amazon so if doesn't have any of that it'll be going right back.

Yeah, there were some stickers with it too. I think that's all.

Start at an easier difficulty level, get a feel for things, and get some more ARMS unlocked, and things should click.   :)

Yeah I played a lot today.  I'm up to rank 3 online.  :smug

I went from borderline hating the game to enjoying it a lot (when I win)

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe - Version 1.2 Patch Notes
  • Players can use Pikmin-themed amiibo to unlock a Pikmin Suit for the Mii driver.
  • Race rules and course name are now displayed on loading screens for online and wireless play, as well as Mario Kart TV.
  • Players who are behind in online matches will receive items geared toward catching up more frequently.
  • In online matches, no more than two Piranha Plants will be granted as items at the same time.
  • Controls are no longer unresponsive when the timer runs out when choosing a Mii racing suit for online matches.
  • When a player uses an item right after the Super Horn in online matches, that item will now remain available for other players.
  • Item wheel no longer spins continuously in online matches.
  • Online matches now end as intended 30 seconds after the first place racer finishes.
  • The Boomerang now returns to the first slot, if possible, after a player catches it.
  • Items shown in a player’s item slots now display correctly when holding an item behind them.
  • No longer possible to use an item after it has been used to block an attack.
  • Communication errors no longer occur frequently while spectating or after spectating online matches.

Boomerang fix is great, was really annoying before. Hope to god "items geared toward catching up more frequently" doesn't include the Lightning Bolt.

Hey bork, have you played Binding of Isaac yet? I've been playing it quite a bit, I still really love the game after several hundred hours on the PC. It took me a while to get used to a controller, as I'm used to kb+m controls, but after a few dozens hours I'm getting better. Using L-stick to move and the face buttons to shoot seems to work best.  The joycon buttons feel too small and cramped to me, but I like the Pro Controller.

Just for a bit -gonna dive into it more when I finish Cave Story- but it seemed pretty fun and was another "how did I not play this until now?!" type of experience like I felt with CS.

Got my ass kicked pretty quickly.  :lol

That's usually how it goes for a while. A lot of the systems are intentionally obtuse to force you to experiment. Of course there are numerous guides at this point, but if you need to know anything I can probably help you out.

I also picked up a Switch yesterday with Zelda, 1-2-Switch, Arms and a Pro controller. So far I've been having the most fun with 1-2-Switch. Zelda seems very promising too.

Wonder Boy is AWESOME. It's the perfect game to pick up and play for 10-20 minutes and put down. I love it. I'm a big Shantae fan and I can see a very direct influence from this game to that. Need to pick up the new Shantae as well.

Hadn't played Arms, but got a chance at a Gamestop yesterday. The Nintendo rep ran a tournament of 8 players with single eliminations to get a top 4. Got into the grande finale and beat some randos along the way. Ended up in second and got a $35 e-shop card for my troubles. Holy crap is Arms a lot of fun!

Secret shame
spoiler (click to show/hide)
I already own Arms as it turns out and I hadn't played it yet.
[close]

Also got some Arms wraps and Nintendo branded switch stuff.

Splatoon demo was cool and looks amazing on that machine. Nintendo really have found what works for that console. Just like with VR there is a design aesthetic that makes things pop and look great without costing much to the developers. It's a super impressive feat in design that I think Nintendo have always had, but didn't know how to use properly.

I've owned a switch since day, it's been a great system and something that Nintendo can iterate on for years to come.

Yeah I burnt out on Zelda pretty quickly and didn't touch the system much till Mario Kart. MK got me back on board, but the problems with TV switching really hampered things. Now that it is fixed I have been using the system a lot more. And I've been buying a lot of games on the switch instead of other systems that are more powerful.

I need to go back to Zelda now that the DLC released.

Oh so you played the worse version of Zelda, gotcha.

Is it really the worst version when both have heavy frame drops in different areas? Last I read they had different flaws but neither is better than the other.

Zelda Wii U is about the same as Zelda Switch in handheld mode. Docked, the Switch version has better res and performance in most of the problem areas.

I know for a fact a couple patches have improved the Switch version since launch. Couldn't say about the Wii U version, though.

If EA hasn't come around yet they will eventually I'd imagine unless they seriously hate Nintendo for some reason. Switch is doing really well.

So, sort of as predicted, my Switch is collecting dust after Zelda (played the fuck out of that) and Mario Kart (that got 2 weeks of play). I have no interest in Arms, and I'm more likely to buy any multi-platform games for my PS4.

Besides Mario, what else is there to look forward to in the interim?

Yeah, I'm perfectly happy with my gray Joycon. The Neon would better suit the Fisher Price-tier plastics in the 3DS or Wii U gamepad IMO.

I do really like how the new yellow Joycons look, but I'm never going to buy another set so oh well. Pro Controllers all the way down baybee!
