Is Michael Tracy on the spectrum or something?

He’s weird as hell... and his Twitter is really annoying. He’s like somehow more insufferable than Glenn greenwald.

I think he can close the border... probably completely, at least temporarily and permanently to some extent.

They still might have to legally process asylum seekers or something like that.

I sort of hope he does it because it such a massively dumb idea. Trump has to touch a hot stove to understand that it will burn him.

I would think the executive has unilateral authority on border security, including shutting all border crossings down entirely. That said, I just checked what our cross border traffic is, and in 2017 we had 16,500 northbround crossings daily1, and that same year we had $340B worth of goods imported and $280B goods exported2. There is no way anyone with a functioning brain can look at those numbers and think it is reasonable to "shut the border down". It's ridiculous. Why is this idiot president?

That’s not proper MLA format.

But yeah... one thing with a lot of trumps dumfuckery is that he’s doing it when the economy is pretty good, and oftentimes his cabinet has been able to like tamp down the worst of it, so nobody sees it for the disaster it really is.

Won’t be any hiding the fact that he’s holding up $4 billion in trade every week.

He seems to think that “oh ford can’t bring in their car from Mexico, so they will just make them in Iowa, like they can just do that shit overnight.

Sam was asked by a caller about Greenwald about a year ago and Sam was fairly ambivalent and had nothing really bad to say about him. The fact that Greenwald's coworker Briahna Joy Gray is a brodette of the Majority Report probably helps.

I think it's even simpler than that. Sam needs guests with an interesting point of view and able to articulate it. I'm sure Greenwald can do that way better than the choke job that Michael Tracey provided.

Greenwald at least used to break new stories and has some strongly held opinions on civil liberties etc. besides getting wrapped up in petty online bullshit.

Tracey is basically just the petty online bullshit part, especially since he was powerbombed through the Spanish announce table by Maxine Waters.

Man, this whole thing is really on par with the Iraq War. Not in terms of the actual human destruction wrought, because by that measure the Iraq War was significantly worse and a horrible tragedy, but in terms of how idiotic some people revealed themselves to be.

Man, this whole thing is really on par with 9/11. Not in terms of the actual human destruction wrought, because by that measure 9/11 was significantly worse and a horrible tragedy, but in terms of the general unity people had after the fact in dunking on one extreme person.

Do you think he cares ? He'll blame it on them anyway.  It's like an infinite exploit with some voters : he'll get points for cutting funding, then for berating them as shitholes, then for closing borders and then for asking more funding for border patrols.

Trump cutting GANG-PREVENTION aid to central american countries as "punishment" is so bonkers. What does he think is going to happen to emigration from those countries?!

The easy answer is that he wants things to get worse in those countries so that more people will try to flee to American, thus helping him make the case that the border really is in crisis. That would require Trump to be smart and a good planner, so that more likely answer is that he just wants the instant injection of adoration he'll get from his base by doing this.

The National Enquirer’s parent company said it had one and only one source for its blockbuster exposé of Jeff Bezos: Michael Sanchez, the brother of Bezos’ girlfriend Lauren Sanchez.

An American Media Inc. spokesman responded Sunday to a Daily Beast op-ed from Bezos’ security consultant Gavin de Becker, who wrote that his investigation had concluded that the Saudis had accessed the Amazon security chief's phone. The spokesman said in a statement:

Despite the false and unsubstantiated claims of Mr. de Becker, American Media has, and continues to, refute the unsubstantiated claims that the materials for our report were acquired with the help of anyone other than the single source who first brought them to us. The fact of the matter is, it was Michael Sanchez who tipped the National Enquirer off to the affair on Sept. 10, 2018, and over the course of four months provided all of the materials for our investigation. His continued efforts to discuss and falsely represent our reporting, and his role in it, has waived any source confidentiality. There was no involvement by any other third party whatsoever.
