So it's their Obama "West Wing" analysis retooled without modification

How does Bernie being a big West Wing fan fit into their theory

I find a lot of Sanders' fans to be pretty Sorkin-y in their faith that a single guy can right the ship by standing up for what he believes in and speaking plain truths. Which is a pretty widespread belief across different ideologies, but it's funny cause TWW has become synecdoche for the naivete of centrist libs.

That's very widespread if not universal though. I mean you have to start somewhere... Top of the ladder is as good a place as any, I suppose.

It's good to know that the system of checks and balances between the Executive Branch, the Legislative Branch, the Judicial Branch, and Alabama is still working.

My favorite thing is when the media unintentionally shades the Bernie/AOC wing by calling them extreme liberals (although tbf it's probably a small slice of that group that would take issue with the label).

It is something both sides can agree on.

Republicans think abortion is baby murder and want to prevent it at all costs right? Can't have abortion if you're not pregnant. Can't get pregnant with an IUD.

Democrats say abortion should be legal as a worst case scenario - condom breaks, rape, incest. Don't need abortion if you're not pregnant. Can't get pregnant with an IUD.

That's a hysterically awful way to "simplify" the issue at hand and completely takes the choice out of women's hands james

A 15 year old cannot consent to sex. Thus, they cannot consent to pregnancy.
A rape victim did not consent to sex. Thus they did not consent to pregnancy.

All women, upon reaching puberty, should be fitted with a free IUD.

At any point over the age of 18 in which the woman chooses to get pregnant, they can choose to get the IUD removed (also for free).

There are literally no downsides to this.

Still trying to work out the parameters of this Malthusian dilemma, where we could have done the Green New Deal except someone blew all the money on not outlawing abortion.

What is causing global climate change?

Carbon emissions.

What causes carbon emissions?

-Coal power plants. Why do we have coal power plants? So people can play with their toys.
-Container ships. Why do we have container ships? So people can get their cheap shit delivered from China.
-Cars. Why do we have cars? So people can go places.
-Livestock. Why do we have livestock? To feed people.

...you get the point.

What's a most effective way of decreasing carbon emissions?

Less fucking people.

We can't fix volcanoes, but maybe we can address the real elephant in the room?

Do you think that the fact that your quick fix that will satisfy everybody gets rejected immediately as a dumbfuck idea is perhaps a sign that it will not, in fact, satisfy everybody

Fun fact:

"In China, women often have the same IUD from soon after childbirth until menopause; while popular IUDs in the United States are typically deemed effective for up to 10 years, those used in China offer birth control for much longer.

China began demanding that women be fitted with an intrauterine device after they had one child, and sterilized after they had two, in the early 1980s. Those who refused risked that their children would be denied access to public schools and health insurance. Civil servants and state employees who refused lost their jobs.

From 1980 to 2014, according to official statistics, 324 million Chinese women were fitted with IUDs. And 107 million underwent tubal ligations or, as is commonly said, got their “tubes tied."

Someone check China's economic growth during that period and let me know if that was a good policy or not. I'm not good with high percentages since Im so used to America's 1-2% numbers

I've been saying it for a long time, global human population should be reduced to 1 billion, e.g. by requiring a license to have offspring (based on local population density). There is no good way to do this.
Unfortunately it's not going to happen as long as the made-up bullshit known as religion has any influence.

Agreed. This also solved the "rural decline" issue that folks like Bernie are wasting time on.

Close off West Virginia. National Park. Everyone who lives there is moved to an area that  isn't a shithole.

Instead of a Sisyphus odyssey to bring jobs there, you take the people to where the jobs are.

The state is then reclaimed by nature.

Rinse and repeat with other shitholes.

I actually like the idea to make everything sterile and only reverse it after the person in question has acquired a license to procreate.

Why not, you need a license to drive a car, too.

The only way to save the planet and humanity is to get rid of the idiotic idea that having offspring is a human right.

if history has taught us anything it will be that the licensing process is consistent, quick, and fair
