Ya, that's all I could think up too but developing a culture of anti-corruption seems unlikely.

I'm reading reports of the #resistance that they think that they can get Trump if the Trump Org wrote a cheque to Giuliani.

However, you can't follow the money because Trump never pays anyone  :smug

Meanwhile the FRONT RUNNER Elizabeth Warren is still fighting the good fight against Facebook.

Yeah, it's an uphill battle bc our politics are so tribal, and the two party system exacerbates that. For the centrist Democrats, any attack on their team is just met with denial and hand waving.

More broadly there's the issue of having a ruling class, where there's a small pool of people whose reputations are mostly impervious to their failures and just can just float around getting corporate and nonprofit board seats, academic jobs, talking head spots on TV, roles in government, etc. A rich failson like Biden's is a good example, but Rahm Emanuel getting all this country after basically covering up a murder is a symptom of the same problem.

So far I haven't seen anything about how to stop this kind of corruption - it's not like you can bar family members of politicians from taking certain jobs, even subjecting them to ethics committees seems like it would be an issue to me.

People and politics operating as usual, to end it you'd have to excise the human element.

It happens in all levels of government. But on a city level, the son might get a job as a communications guy or maybe just a desk job or an easy way to get a garbage collecting contract.
"Oh that's cute he's in government like his father  :heart"

Yet at the level that Biden was operating his boy gets to join a shady Ukrainian gas company because that's the equivalent of the garbage driver on that level of global politics.

The whole debate around facebook bothers me to no end.  Like ya, facebook is part of the problem but you are not going to target a root cause like fox news and other primary sources of misinformation?  It's strange to think the message is protected by free speech but the messenger is not.  Also, I do not understand how breaking up a company even fixes this problem.  Does she think that if facebook had real competition people would use the one that was used to spread truth indeed of the one the lets people confirm their own beliefs?  There is a leap in logic between attacking facebook for being unmoderated and/or unethical to saying ti should be broken up for me.

How do you break up a network monopoly like Facebook where people voluntarily choose to engage in only one platform? :lol

Our left wing is so destitute in vision. Nationalize Walmart. Nationalize Amazon's online retail. Forget about bringing FB to heel, ban all political advertising everywhere, not just the stuff with outright fabrication.

The advertising industry in general is hundreds of billions of dollars and is responsible for approximately one sixth of American GDP. That's money that corporations don't need spent on convincing you to buy things you don't actually want. What we should be saying is "Facebook shouldn't exist because advertising shouldn't exist".

Okay...how does that change anything?

It doesn't but what it will do is seriously kill investment into start ups where the end goal for most of these companies is to be bought by facebook or google.  Without the start ups, most new tech will just be developed internally instead so nothing changes except the rich get richer.

Hillary just needs an excuse to enter the race because in ways this 'field' is even weaker than 2016 and preventing Russia from hijacking the Democratic primary is as good as any.
Tulsi gives her this excuse, "I have to get in the race to fight the RUSSIANS!"

Joe doesn't have the energy or money to stop her from re-taking the party and can't shake off the Hunter Biden story and Sanders' momentum is finished.
Warren can stick around if she accepts the role of vice president under queen Hillary. Wall Street doesn't like Warren but without their money the Democrats can't win.
The broke-ass Democratic Party has no choice but to field Clinton.

You can almost hear Robby Mook on CNN:

"Hillary 3.0 is pissed, will tell Trump what's what and expose her rivals' connections to Russia.
No more gloves, no more 'trying to be nice' or 'likable'. All these Russian stooges like Tulsi, Trump, Stein. Hillary is going to take them all down.
Did you notice how every RUSSIAN STOOGE has 5 letters in their name just like PUTIN? Coincidence? I think not.
I bet her name isn't Tulsi and she's not even born the United States.

You are going to see the real unfiltered Hillary in this campaign cycle.
No more pants suits but leather jackets. No more make-up but raw warpaint.
We've enlisted John Bolton to advice us on Foreign Policy to show we mean business. John fucking Bolton.

Her new campaign slogan is: "Fuck 'em". This time we're going to drink conservative tears and lock Trump up.
We're going to deport his illegal wife and arrest the two corrupt crackhead sons, Jared and that whoring daughter of his.

Our first policy is that on her very first day in office, President Clinton will sign an executive order banning Fox News, Info Wars and other so-called conservatives polluting the air waves.
The FBI will also raid their offices to find evidence on Russian collusion.
That's right bitches, Hillary Clinton is coming for you. This is going to be the comeback of the century."

Jake Tapper: "Wow... that sounds great Robby but what's her foreign policy going to be like. There's a lot of relationships we have to fix after years of Trump chaos"

Robby: "Fix?! Her foreign policy is 3 characters and a dash. B-52. Erdogan won't be able to hide behind his 'NATO' card when our queen takes her throne."

“You know, we don’t really know to what extent the election was interfered in because nobody will look for it. We do know that in Florida a lot more happened than has been admitted publicly,” Clinton said in the podcast released Friday.

“We know we’re really vulnerable,” she said. “Every, you know, every Hackathon that happens, you know, 10-year-olds are hacking our voting systems and the networks that connect them.”

“So we have four big problems and we don’t have a government that is interested in protecting our elections.”

On foreign inference in the 2016 presidential election, Clinton said, “Since it worked for them, why would they quit.”

She continued, “There is this bizarre adulation Trump has for dictators and authoritarians. He dreams of being able to order people to do things and make them do it. He has no democratic instincts, really. I saw that when I was secretary of state and traveled to 112 countries. One of our big problems were people who got themselves elected and then became authoritarian. And then did everything they could to rig the elections, everything they could to make sure they could never be forced out of power. That is his game plan. That is what he is trying to achieve.”

I mean, I hate Killary as much as the next red-blooded American but: She's not wrong on the Election Machines being able to be hacked.

https://www.wired.com/story/darpa-voting-machine-defcon-voting-village-hackers/
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business/2019/08/12/def-con-hackers-lawmakers-came-together-tackle-holes-election-security/

America's InfoSec industry is in shambles due to not enough people having an interest in protecting information (Hi, Facebook!).

That said: I highly doubt "russian hackers" alone are why she lost. :doge

No, she is absolutely wrong and is spreading a conspiracy theory about "our voting systems and the networks that connect them."

There are no "the Election Machines" let alone a network of them.

spoiler (click to show/hide)
Hillary probably would prefer a national network with a single point of attack considering that's the only way she won in 2016.
