Because Biden will say one thing and do the other, like every other establishment.

I hope you're right and he'll actually support paid-leave (by mandate, not "oh you can leave... if you fill PTO forms and/or get someone to donate you PTO hours") but I'm dubious about it given his nature.

wait, this dude writes Nintex like fanfic about Joe Biden:
https://gregolear.substack.com/p/transcript-from-the-upcoming-biden
Quote
BS: Tuesday night, obviously, was not a good night for our campaign from a delegate point of view. We lost in the largest state up for grabs yesterday, the state of Michigan. We lost in Mississippi, Missouri, and Idaho.

JB: Yeah, I pretty much kicked your ass. But no, that’s giving me too much credit. I had nothing to do with it, really. Remember, my campaign was broke and running on fumes. What happened is that Black voters came out, en masse, and shot you down like a clay pigeon your NRA backers like to use for target practice.

BS: On the other hand, we won in North Dakota and we lead the vote count in the state of Washington, the second-largest state contested yesterday. With 67 percent of the votes having been counted, we are a few thousand votes on top.

JB: And with 100% of the ballots counted, I beat you in Washington by a mere 27,000 votes. But it’s not like Washington is known for its progressive policies or anything. Oh, wait, I’m wrong—Seattle is in Washington. You couldn’t beat me in the state that contains Seattle. But you’re right about North Dakota. I guess the 7,600 people who voted for you there will change the name of the capital to “Bismarx.”
Quote
BS: And the American people understand that if our kids are going to make it into the middle class of this country, we must make public colleges and universities and trade schools tuition-free.

JB: Or fix the tuition at an affordable rate. Why does tuition have to be free? Why is everything always free with you? Having free tuition makes it too easy to abuse the system. It’s not unreasonable for college students to pay something towards their education.

Another thing we could do is force schools with endowments larger than the GNP of some small countries to spend half a percentage point more than they now do. I’m not sure of the exact math, but a school like Harvard could easily, I mean really easily, pay the full freight for every student by being forced to spend an infinitesimally small amount of the stockpiles of cash they’ve accumulated.

[pause]

Why are you looking at me like that? You have no idea what I’m talking about, do you? Oh my God, you’re going to ignore these comments completely and go right to the next canned section of your stump speech, aren’t you?

BS (wagging finger even more): The American people understand that we cannot continue a cruel and dysfunctional health care system. And it is amazing to me to see that even in conservative states like Mississippi, there is an overwhelming understanding that we are now spending twice as much per capita on health care as do the people of any other country, while 87 million of us remain uninsured or underinsured. And this crisis, this absurd health care system, is becoming more and more obvious to the American people as we face the challenge of a coronavirus pandemic that we are currently experiencing.

JB: Wow, way to work that keyword into your stump speech. Well done. You finally mentioned the elephant in the room. You finally pandered to the pandemic! Let’s make this really clear: You know who has a really great universal healthcare system? Italy. Doesn’t matter, because health insurance is only one factor when dealing with a global pandemic and it’s not remotely the most important one. We need test kits, we need crisis management at the federal level, we need breathing machines and hospital beds. None of this has anything to do with what you’re talking about.

Right now there's a bill being started in Congress on paid leave and family leave;etc. So this doesn't really stand to reality. The moderate Dems are making actual legislation and I have every reason to believe Biden on this because they need results as opposed to Trump who so far has none. I will say this about progressives - sometimes they are too cynical as you are showing right now.

We now know the cost of impeachment.

While Democrats were diverting the attention and energy of the entire country into a pointless trial that could not possibly have ended in anything other than President Donald Trump’s acquittal, the coronavirus pandemic was beginning in China and arriving in the United States.

The timeline of the two developments — impeachment and coronavirus — is shocking, and reveals the true cost of hyper-partisanship.

For twenty days, from the day the first death from coronavirus was known, Democrats did nothing about it. They were too busy with the president’s impeachment trial — a trial Pelosi had delayed unnecessarily for several weeks.

To the extent that they commented on coronavirus at all, it was only to tear up the president’s remarks or to call him a racist. They told the nation that he, not coronavirus, was a threat to the national security of the United States.

In the midst of that all-consuming trial, it is remarkable Trump was able to do anything else at all. But he did, and one of the things he did was impose the China travel ban, just one day after the World Health Organization declared coronavirus a global health emergency, and the day before the first victim of the pandemic died outside China.

For his trouble, he was criticized by the World Health Organization and called “hysterical” by his future 2020 rival.

When Republicans warned Democrats that impeachment was a waste of time, a divisive partisan exercise, and a distraction from the real issues facing the country — a lesson Republicans learned the hard way, in Bill Clinton’s impeachment, 21 years before — Democrats ignored them.

Just a few weeks later, our divided leaders were taken by surprise by the pandemic, and bickered on cable news, asking why nothing was done sooner.

But we know why.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) turned down repeated requests from Bernie Sanders’ presidential campaign to appear at events promoting the Vermont senator’s candidacy in recent weeks, according to three people familiar with the discussions.

After the Iowa caucuses, Sanders campaign manager Faiz Shakir asked Ocasio-Cortez to stump for Sanders in New Hampshire, according to the sources. The campaign prepared a model schedule to highlight the kind of popular support she would expect if she attended, one of the people familiar with the talks said.

Ocasio-Cortez resisted the entreaties until a few days before the primary on Feb. 12. She ultimately spoke the day before the election at a Sanders rally in Durham, New Hampshire, where the rock band The Strokes performed.

“It was like pulling teeth to get her to New Hampshire,” said a second person who knew about the discussions.
Quote
At a rally in Ames on Jan. 25, Ocasio-Cortez delivered a speech in which she failed to mention Sanders’ name ― an omission that Fox News noticed and highlighted. She also encouraged those in attendance to tip off people about the presence of immigration enforcement authorities in their communities to help undocumented immigrants evade detention.

As Vanity Fair first reported in February, Shakir apparently communicated to Ocasio-Cortez his dissatisfaction over her remarks about alerting the presence of immigration authorities. While Sanders has sought to scrap and restructure the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency in its current form, his campaign has been trying to avoid the impression that it was encouraging noncooperation with federal law as it exists, according to one source.
Quote
After that, Ocasio-Cortez ― already annoyed with the campaign’s Jan. 23 decision to publicize the endorsement of controversial podcast host Joe Rogan ― grew less interested in helping Sanders’ campaign, according to the source. After her last event in Iowa on Jan. 26, she did not return to the trail for Sanders until 16 days later, at the New Hampshire rally featuring The Strokes.
Quote
While Ocasio-Cortez was staying off the campaign trail in the aftermath of Biden’s victory in South Carolina, three moderate ex-presidential contenders ―  Amy Klobuchar, Pete Buttigieg and Beto O’Rourke ― endorsed Biden, ensuring him wall-to-wall national media coverage that provided momentum going into Super Tuesday.

Quote
(CNN)President Donald Trump announced new measures on Friday aimed at easing the burden of student loans as universities and colleges across the country shut their doors in response to the novel coronavirus pandemic.

"I've waived interest on all student loans held by federal government agencies, and that will be until further notice," Trump said during an appearance in the Rose Garden, noting the number of schools that have sent students home amid the growing outbreak.
A Department of Education spokesperson said that under the new policy, any borrower with a federal loan -- including those in income-driven repayment and in forbearance -- will have interest waived until the temporary policy ends. The spokesperson added that the department does not know exactly how long the policy will be in effect.
The interest will be waived automatically, the spokesperson said, and the policy will be put into effect over approximately the next week, retroactive back to Friday's announcement by the President.

IIRC he was chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and presided over the hearings, sort of similar to the Kavanaugh hearings we had recently. He chose not to call witnesses that would have corroborated Anita Hill's accusations of sexual harassment, is generally seen as not having protected her from attacks when she was testifying, and didn't kill the nomination in committee.

They didn't have a majority on the Committee to "kill it" like with Bork, they had a tie and I guess tradition is (or was) to not kill nominations on ties.

It's like John Kerry's infamous line. Biden voted against Thomas, for Thomas and then against Thomas because he got to vote three times.

He voted both times for Scalia too. But so did everyone else on the Committee as Scalia was unanimous both times.

What if trump just starts enacting all the shit bernie has been talking about :ohhh
