I'm not sure why Benjie thinks we want Sanders to be VP so he can become President. Personally I would like him to be VP because:

1. it would act as a sign of good will and be a legitimate olive branch from the moderate wing of Democrats to the progressives which get them out to vote and nullify their apathy

2. it would protect the democratic party's future

3. would help in establishing agenda as Sanders has by and large won the policy argument

I think it would be such a baller move that would satisfy many sides of the country. Multiple people outright say,"I love Sanders' ideas but don't think he's electable." This is an excellent stop gap.

But again, this is just political fan fiction.

Wanting him to be President is the only reason to want him to be VP.

It's not an olive branch and any progressives (or anyone) who votes for a VP to be a VP deserves what they get. It would immediately silence the agenda. You don't criticize the top of the ticket or the President as the VP. Look at Pence or hell, Biden.

How would it protect the future? Two near 80 year olds who will ride off into the sunset together with their political legacies forever entwined as Biden's.
