Are you denying that his status as an independent was not an issue that was broached during the primary?

it obviously was

Maybe don't pretend to be slick and above it all when you're clearly bothered and attempt to engage in sly witticisms; only to then retreat to a facade of lowercase afflicted shitposts when challenged. 🤷‍♂️
It's an opportunity cost thing for him based on past experiences... high effort, very low reward
Is there truly such thing as high reward posting? :thinking

10 or more likes is the only thing that gets me off these days.

He spoke at the 2004 convention on behalf of George II. I believe Bernie has a history of working with Democrats in Congress despite not being a member of the party?

I don't think they were held to similar standards, mainly because Mikey B could effectively utilize his money while Bernie took in a bunch of donations and ate shit.

You are right that I'm defending social fascists, which is why I tried to end this with my last reply.

Mandark

Getting Mandark to admit he quietly seethes about SOCIAL FASCIST Bernie Sanders was not the turn-on I was expecting this morning.

that is kara's characterization of bernie, not mine

my opinion is that bernie is a liberal democrat, and thus is Good

Social fascist is an old far-left joke that I infected this forum with, 2 Elite.

E: the "joke" is that despite the theory of social fascism being discredited by the flow of interwar history, occasionally social democratic parties will adopt odious points to slow their PASOKification and there are always self-described democratic socialists / social democrats who argue for something insane. Optimus (PBUH) is definitely a guy you could quote and drop a line of old "I guess social democracy is the left wing of fascism" theory in response to.

yes and in return for caucusing with dems he is treated as a dem senator for purposes of committee seatings and seniority (this is how an "independent" is the ranking dem on the budget committee, why he was the primary negotiator for dems for the va reform bill, etc.)

other campaigns tactically attacked both sanders and bloomberg for not being loyal soldiers and when the dust settled they were both welcomed with open arms for the resources that they could bring

bernie's obv a more trustworthy ally to the party and imo a force for good in contrast to bloomberg, but he wasn't uniquely punished for his indy branding

Where were such attacks and displays of party opposition on Bloomberg? On the debate stage? Where prospective presidential candidates call each other racist for bants and later beg for a VP pick or cabinet slot?

if attacks don't count at a debate, when do they count?

Uhhm, your Vice President clearly outlines that debate attacks do not count, and that they operate on the premise that 'no hard feelings, we're all just desperately vying for the Presidency

if all rhetorical attacks in a campaign should be seen as meaningless banter, then we can't get riled up about those attacks aimed against our faves

I still don't get why Bernie suspended his campaign when he did.
He basically handed it to Joe when he had great results in states that were very difficult for him.

That's something I don't get about most campaigns. They drop out before even a single ballot has been cast or before even half of the states got to vote.
Trump at first was in 2nd, 3rd sometimes 4th place. But he remained in the race until states more favorable to him got to vote and he bullied his rivals out of the race.

Let's say 2 Elite accuses both of us of being disloyal to the Democratic Party on separate occasions with similar degrees of severity. We've both been on the receiving end of the same thing, but in your case it's a prima facie absurd accusation to respond to and in mine it's something I'd (rightfully) have to falsify if I wanted to dispute.

Don't really recall Bloomberg being attacked for his past as a Republican, iirc the vast majority of the attacks were for being a raging misogynist and racist

You had some of the moderates like Klobuchar go gaga at the idea that if Bloomberg lost that he would fund an independent campaign to elect whomever the Dem candidate was and some in the media criticized Bernie for saying that was a poison pill that made no sense for him.

That was an odd series of moments, especially since I don't think it lasted a month after Bloomberg dropped out before he fired everyone on his staff.

Uhhm, your Vice President clearly outlines that attacks and accusations of racism are kosher on the debate floor, and that, of course, there are no hard feelings afterwards:

yeah, being a former republican is not something Warren would have wanted to bring up
wasn't a good angle of attack for bernie either

biden hit bloomberg for not supporting obama and would certainly have drilled that point further if it were necessary

thank you for making me bernie in this metaphor but I don't think it's that useful

in this scenario have I spent the last few years actively marketing myself as an independent alternative to the current democratic party, despite my continued involvement in it?

You have an issue with Kamala?

1. "She locked up black men!" - Kamala didn't lock up black men. She was a prosecutor in a racist criminal justice system that TARGETS black men / minorities. There's a difference. She did her job and she is no more culpable for incarcerating black men than EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE of the criminal justice system. Please find me a prior candidate that isn't guilty of buttressing racist practices to some capacity (Stop & Frisk, Super Predators, Busing, etc...)

2. "She's not qualified." Kamala is more qualified to be VP (and POTUS) than Barack was to be President when he ran INITIALLY and more qualified than both the current occupants of the Oval office.

3. "They only picked her because she's a black woman and they are pandering!" Congratulations !! That's called influence!! Get used to being considered if you ever want true representation. Who do you think they've been pandering to for the past 244 years?

4. "She's not black enough." She's blacker than the last 45 VP's and 44/45 last presidents. Also, I'm still waiting for my copy of the "How to be Black and Influence People Yo!" manual that everyone else seems to have received at birth. She went to Howard and pledged AKA (see pic below) how black does she need to be? Sheesh!

5. "Her politics do not align with mine!" Yet you found a way to vote for prior candidates whose politics obliterated your community. If you believe in democracy, her politics are more closely aligned to yours than 45.

6. "This has nothing to do with her being a woman. She's just not the right woman for the job!" The right woman for the job is the woman that is QUALIFIED, AVAILABLE and CHOSEN for the job. Also, not acknowledging her gender is akin to "I don't see color."; WHOLLY dismissive.

7. "I just don't like her." You don't know her and she probably doesn't like you either. LOL The only thing you need to like is if she is better for you than the current occupants. #facts

8. "She attacked Joe Biden during the debates and now their friends? FOH!" You know Barack's Secretary of State was Hilary Clinton who he ran against in the prior election right? Biden also ran against Barack, who made him VP.

9. No one above the age of 21 is morally fit to run for office. If you lived in the U.S., you've propped up institutions that are not in your best interest on countless occasions. In other words, NO ONE is in a position to judge moral aptitude, not even the 99 percenters who complained about the 1% on Facebook using their Iphones they ordered on Amazon. #irony

10. "She doesn't inspire me!" Are you voting for a motivational speaker or a politician that will help normalize current conditions?
“Keeping it real” is not a skill. It just means you are easily susceptible to your own emotions. Everyone's so eager to tell the world how they really feel but this is not a feeling competition. This is politics. After you're done pretending to like your boss to get that promotion and pretending to like someone to get money or attention, you turn around and decide to "keep it real" because you are ..."honest?" In the illustrious words of Nikki Giovanni, "Lie to Me."

I'm riding for Kamala. Plain and simple. Until there is equal representation, we don't have the luxury of division so in the illustrious words of Issa Rae "I'm rooting for everybody Black!" #blackgirlmagic

Read that Politico story on Biden and one of the recurring themes is how it's his nature to schmooze, make friends, and try to be a dealmaker. A number of quotes from Republicans about how he was different from the professorial, standoffish Obama.

Biden thinking he can peel off Republican votes for important bills would be a great way to waste months of what's a two-year window at most.
