So I didn't realize that the Cowboys kneeled before the anthem, which I see as being kind of a cop out.  But the thing is that the photo presents a striking image and that's what will be remembered.  It might end up having the same net effect as if they'd kneeled during the anthem.

Kind of funny cause I heard some super fired up middle aged guys say they'd become Cowboy fans because of Jones' earlier statement (and these are Washington fans, so we're talking the bitterly hated rivals here), and after that photo-op they don't know what to think. Haven't seen people faking concern for The Troops this hard since the early Iraq War days.

So let me get this straight. The ones that are voting for Trumpcare are Real Republicans™, even though it is sponsored by Mitch McConnel who is a RINO, Trump who is a former Democrat and in all likelihood hasn't read the bill and is just looking for a win is a Real Repiblican™, the moderate Republicans that are voting against the bill are RINO's but so are the hard-line and Tea Party Republicans like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz who are voting against Trumpcare because it is not an all-out repeal, and the Trump approved candidate in the Alabama runoff Luther Strange is a RINO and the one Trump campaigned against, Ray Moore, who won the runoff, is a Real Republican™ who said that he would've voted against Trumpcare.

Florida is rightfully considered the swingiest of swing states. Control of the White House in 2000 came down to a few hundred hanging chads — and one vote on the Supreme Court. The past four statewide elections — two governor’s races and two presidentials — were all decided by a single percentage point.

So it could be quite politically significant that tens of thousands of Puerto Ricans, maybe more, are expected to permanently move into Florida as the result of Hurricane Maria. The Category 4 storm has wreaked havoc on the U.S. territory of 3.4 million. Most of the island still doesn’t have power a week after Maria made landfall. There are shortages of fuel, medicine, food and running water. Infrastructure that was already crumbling is in ruins.

Puerto Ricans are American citizens, thanks to a law passed in 1917. As a result, all they need to settle in the mainland is a plane ticket or a berth on a boat.

Their citizenship entitles them to vote, and they tend to overwhelmingly support Democratic candidates.

Florida-based Republican operative Rick Wilson thinks the hurricane might be a game changer. “If you put an influx of 100,000 Puerto Ricans who vote Democratic eight times out of 10 in the Orlando area, there you go,” he said. “Nobody can afford a big change in the registration pattern or a change in the voting pattern that offsets Florida’s narrowness. You could end up with a big advantage for Democrats in 2018 if they play it right. The Puerto Ricans would be coming here because they feel like Donald Trump left them high and dry. That won’t fade away. … It could be a very, very big deal.”

They can still vote, their vote just doesn't mean shit as long as they're living in Puerto Rico because PR doesn't have any members of Congress or votes in the Electorial College. If they were living in Florida however....

Of course you can vote if you're a citizen, as long as you live in a state that has electors in the electoral college. So Puerto Ricans moving to FL in droves could shake things up quite a bit, especially considering the half-hearted help by the President.

What do you mean?

Quote
People evacuated by the U.S. from hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico must sign promissory notes ensuring they fully repay transportation costs to the Defense Department, according to the State Department.

Evacuees from Dominica and other countries hit by the hurricanes also must sign the promissory notes, though their repayments would go through the State Department.

The notes fall under a longstanding but discretionary policy meant to ensure that evacuees pay transportation costs, which are based on “the price of the last commercial one-way, full-fare (not discounted) economy ticket prior to the crisis.”

Marketwatch first reported that the evacuees from Puerto Rico were required to put up the promissory notes.

Puerto Rico, Washington DC, hell, maybe even the Virgin Islands and Guam oughta become states. Next time (if it ever happens again, GOP fuckery and all) the dems get control they should make putting new states on the map a priority. Because the situation they've got in those places clearly isn't working to their residents satisfaction, and also it'll be a nice bulwark against the Pub's antics.

I happened to catch his interview last night on Fox (at my gym). The guy seemed weak and not credible. I was surprised that the interviewer was going a little hard on him.

Knowing Trump, he probably watched that and then decided to fire him.
