They do care about debates but look for different things, and Trump knows it. His supporters (and Republicans in general) view debates and political discourse as something like an old white man version of the Dirty Dozens. Sickest burn wins.

Imo, this is the beginning of the end for Biden. Which is good, as “I’m anybody but Biden” right now.

He always had fundamental problems with his history, and was basically just trading on his I used to hang with Obama” so his best strategy is “say as little as possible and avoid the spotlight” but not sure how you can win doing that.

and he seems to have lost a step. Seemed like he was fumblefucking his talking points.

Perhaps more importantly, his veneers look godawful. You can’t trust old people that try to look like they don’t smell like a musty basement.
