That's not quite the "gotcha" they imagine, Reagan was to the "left" of his own party* on immigration, they were condemning him for the "amnesty" quite fiercely already by 1988. Pat Buchanan's entire insurgency was motivated by it. H.W. Bush's "betrayal" with NAFTA and on the taxes pledge was fuel on the fire. (Also Buchanan didn't believe he could legitimately run in 1988.)

*And the Democrats, the Unions still had a say in the 1980s Democratic Party.

Quote
Almost a year after President Donald Trump urged voters to reject Mark Sanford, the former South Carolina congressman is considering a Republican presidential run of his own against Trump in 2020.

Sanford, in an interview Tuesday with The Post and Courier, confirmed he will take the next month to formulate a potential run against Trump as a way of pushing a national debate about America’s mounting debt, deficit and government spending.

He would run as a Republican.

“Sometimes in life you’ve got to say what you’ve got to say, whether there’s an audience or not for that message,” Sanford said. “I feel convicted.”

If he does get in the race, Sanford faces mammoth odds against getting any traction within the Republican Party. Hours after news broke of Sanford’s possible presidential bid, he faced blunt condemnation from his own South Carolina Republican Party.

“The last time Mark Sanford had an idea this dumb, it killed his Governorship. This makes about as much sense as that trip up the Appalachian Trail,” S.C. GOP Chairman Drew McKissick said in an emailed statement. The comment was later shared on the S.C. GOP Twitter account, which features a banner image of a Trump-Pence campaign logo.

The S.C. Democratic Party also weighed in on the news, welcoming a Sanford run while also taking a jab at Trump.

“Always nice to see a candidate with fewer extra marital affairs than the president,” the S.C. Democratic Party tweeted.
but... why?

ELIZABETH WARREN GETS MAXED OUT DONATION FROM SOCIALIST TRAITOR WHO JUSTIFIED TORTURE OF US POWS
Quote
That must have really hurt Bernie's feelings.

He's the one who honeymoons in the USSR, cheers every Marxist regime, and Hanoi Jane leaves him at the altar and maxes out for Cherokee Liz.

Quote
Hollywood A-listers who contributed the maximum $2,800 primary donation to Warren included TV drama guru Shonda Rhimes and actress Jane Fonda. Barbra Streisand donated $1,000 to the Massachusetts senator.

Hanoi Jane hasn't been an A-lister in a long time. Except with the Viet Cong.

But you can see why Jane Fonda would be drawn to Elizabeth Warren.

Quote
By 1970 she was telling American college students: “If you understood what communism was, you would hope, you would pray on your knees that we would some day become communist. . . . I, a socialist, think that we should strive toward a socialist society, all the way to communism.”

Now, in theory, a politician running for president ought to return a donation from a traitor who posed smilingly with enemy forces and weaponry during a war with the United States.

But Elizabeth Warren won't. Of course.

Jane Fonda called POWs who had been tortured, "hypocrites and liars".

"These were not men who had been tortured. These were not men who had been starved. These were not men who had been brainwashed," Elizabeth Warren's new donor said.

“Tortured men do not march smartly off planes, salute the flag, and kiss their wives,” she said.  “They are liars.  I also want to say that these men are not heroes.”

(There's plenty more on the Discover the Networks page for Fonda, put together excellently by John Perazzo.)
Quote
Warren's new donor not only mocked the pain and suffering of tortured POWs, justified their abuse, but recorded propaganda broadcasts for the enemy which featured enemy propaganda and spoke on behalf of the POWs.

The Democrats keep saying that every single thing Trump says is "disqualifying". What ought to be disqualifying is treason.

What ought to be disqualifying is standing with the enemy in a time of war, and spitting on POWs. But that's not disqualifying among the Dems. Fonda has a long history of political affiliation with top Dems. And Senator Elizabeth Warren will never be asked to return that donation.

But Vietnam veterans will remember.

One example the EEOC lists on its website matches nearly word-for-word the President’s tweets.

“Examples of potentially unlawful conduct include insults, taunting, or ethnic epithets, such as making fun of a person’s foreign accent or comments like, “Go back to where you came from.”

Highlighting the EEOC’s language Tuesday, Sen. Tim Kaine (D-VA) wrote, “The President’s bigoted words are so contrary to who we are as a country that we literally have laws against them.”

President Trump on Wednesday asserted he's "winning" the fight against a "squad" of progressive lawmakers, even as Democrats and a few Republicans have assailed his attacks on the first-term lawmakers as racist.

Trump added that he's "not relishing the fight" with the lawmakers, but that he is "enjoying it."

Pelosi was just about to shut them down after AOC got called a goomba by DNC staff and the CBC getting pissed at them for downplaying their own status.

Trump said Fuck that and went into overdrive to keep them in the news.

The smart play would be for the squad to denounce the comments and move but he played to their egos and we are now in the Omar married her brother stage.
